  3. 3. Molecular basis and structural determinants for the cellular localization of cytochrome P450 2E1

    Author : Etienne P A Neve; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1) is the alcohol inducible member of the P450 family and has a role in gluconeogenesis under fasting conditions. However, CYP2E1 is mainly of toxicological significance and metabolizes xenobiotics to their carcinogenic and toxic metabolites and generates active oxygen species that can cause lipid peroxidation and apoptosis, processes observed in alcoholic liver disease (ALD). Abstract : Enteroviruses belong to the Picornaviridae family and are small icosahedral viruses with RNA genomes of positive polarity, containing a single open reading frame. They mostly cause mild or asymptomatic infections, but also a wide array of diseases including: poliomyelitis, encephalitis, gastroenteritis, aseptic meningitis, myocarditis, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, hepatitis and respiratory diseases, ranging from severe infections to the common cold.
