16. Modeling and investigations of high-grade glioma to understand tumorigenesis and heterogeneity
Abstract : Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common primary malignant brain tumor. As per 2021 WHO classification, the corresponding diagnosis in children is called diffuse pediatric-type high-grade glioma (pHGG). In both cases tumors are histone 3 (H3) and isocitrate dehydrogenase 1/2 (IDH1/2) wildtype (wt). READ MORE

17. The Impact of Pancreatic Islet Vascular Heterogeneity on Beta Cell Function and Disease
Abstract : Diabetes Mellitus is a group of complex and heterogeneous metabolic disorders characterized by hyperglycemia. Even though the condition has been extensively studied, its causes and complex pathologies are still not fully understood. The occurring damage to the pancreatic islets is strikingly heterogeneous. 18. Breast cancer : Multifocality, heterogeneity, and related genetic signatures
Abstract : Breast carcinoma often exhibits a complex subgross morphology and may occupy a large volume of the breast tissue and show unifocal, multifocal or diffuse growth patterns. Expression of estrogen- and progesterone receptors, HER2 overexpression, tumor grade, and proliferative activity allows us to classify breast carcinoma into molecular subgroups (Luminal A, Luminal B, HER2-type, triple negative, and basal-like). 19. Impact of Diagenetic Alterations on Reservoir Quality and Heterogeneity of Paralic and Shallow Marine Sandstones : Links to Depositional Facies and Sequence Stratigraphy
Abstract : This thesis constrains the distribution of diagenetic alterations and their impact on reservoir-quality and heterogeneity evolution pathways in relation to depositional environments and sequence stratigraphy (systems tracts and key sequence stratigraphic surfaces) of four selected paralic and shallow marine siliciclastic successions. Typical eogenetic alterations encountered include the dissolution and kaolinitization of framework silicates, which are closely associated to shoreface facies of forced regressive systems tract (FRWST), lowstand systems tract (LST), upper part of the highstand systems tract (HST), and below the sequence boundary (SB). 20. On large scale real time music distribution : security, reliability and heterogeneity
Abstract : This thesis presents a system for real-time large scale distributed music distribution, such as radio on the Internet. The existing technologies do not enable the full potential that broadcast media on the Internet can give, such as a very large number of interactive receivers. READ MORE
