1. Particle-fluid interactions under heterogeneous reactions
Abstract : Particle-laden flows involve in many energy and industrial processes within a wide scale range. Solid fuel combustion and gasication, drying and catalytic cracking are some of the examples. It is vital to have a better understanding of the phenomena inside the reactors involving in particle-laden flows for process improvements and design. READ MORE

2. Particle-fluid interactions under heterogeneous reactions
Abstract : Particle-fluid flows are involved in many natural processes and industrial applications; some examples are drying, solid fuel combustion, gasification, and catalytic cracking. It is vital to understand the phenomena involved in particle-fluid flows in depth for design, predictions and process improvements. READ MORE

3. Transition Metal-Catalyzed Redox Reactions : A Journey from Homogeneous Ruthenium to Heterogeneous Palladium Catalysis
Abstract : The first part of the thesis covers the development and utilization of electronically modified (pentaarylcyclopentadienyl)Ru-complexes in the racemization of secondary alcohols. This study revealed that the electronic properties of the substrate were the main factors dictating whether β-hydride elimination or hydride re-addition becomes the rate-determining step of the racemization process. 4. Catalytic reactions with palladium supported on mesocellular foam : Applications in hydrogenation, isomerization, and C-C bond forming reactions
Abstract : The major part of this thesis concerns the development of catalytic methodologies based on palladium nanoparticles immobilized on aminopropyl-functionalized siliceous mesocellular foam (Pd0-AmP-MCF). The catalytic activity of the precursor to the nanocatalyst, PdII-AmP-MCF is also covered by this work. READ MORE

5. Surface reactions and chemical bonding in heterogeneous catalysis
Abstract : This thesis summarizes studies which focus on addressing, using both theoretical and experimental methods, fundamental questions about surface phenomena, such as chemical reactions and bonding, related to processes in heterogeneous catalysis. The main focus is on the theoretical approach and this aspect of the results. READ MORE
