1. Engineering yeast for improved recombinant protein production
Abstract : Recombinant proteins are broadly used from basic research to therapeutic development and include industrial enzymes and pharmaceutical proteins. The increasing demand for improved production and enhanced quality of recombinant proteins requires robust biotech-based strategies to overcome the limitations of protein extraction from natural sources. 2. Metabolic Engineering of Recombinant Protein Production by Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Abstract : The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae is a widely used cell factory for the production of fuels, chemicals, and it also provides a platform for the production of many heterologous proteins of medical or industrial interest. In this thesis, random and rational approaches, such as vector design, host engineering, fermentation analysis, UV Mutation, coupled with high-throughput systems biology techniques (including whole genomic sequencing, microarray analysis and flux analysis) and integrated analysis (Reporter feature technique), were employed to engineer cellular properties more effectively and purposefully to construct cell factories for protein production. 3. Physiology of Saccharomyces cerevisiae Producing Recombinant Insulin in Continuous Culture
Abstract : The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae has widely been used as a host for the production of heterologous proteins. High-level production of heterologous proteins is likely to impose a metabolic burden on the host cell and can thus affect various aspects of cellular physiology. READ MORE

4. Multidimensional engineering for the production of fatty acid derivatives in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Abstract : Saccharomyces cerevisiae , also known as budding yeast, has been important for human society since ancient time due to its use during bread making and beer brewing, but it has also made important contribution to scientific studies as model eukaryote. The ease of genetic modification and the robustness and tolerance towards harsh conditions have established yeast as one of the most popular chassis in industrial-scale production of various compounds. 5. The role of the Type IV pili system in the virulence of Francisella tularensis
Abstract : Francisella tularensis is a Gram-negative intracellular pathogen causing the zoonotic disease tularemia. F. tularensis can be found almost all over the world and has been recovered from several animal species, even though the natural reservoir of the bacterium and parts of its life cycle are still unknown.
