  1. 16. Phenomenology of Charged Higgs Bosons and B-meson Decays

    Author : David Eriksson; Johan Rathsman; Gunnar Ingelman; Fabio Maltoni; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Supersymmetry; Beyond Standard Model; B-Physics; Charged Higgs Boson; LHC; QCD; Spin Correlations; CMSSM; NUHM; Elementary particle physics; Elementarpartikelfysik;

    Abstract : For more than 30 years the Standard Model has been the theoretical foundation for particle physics. The theory has been verified successfully by experimental tests. Its biggest shortcoming is the non-discovery of the Higgs boson,responsible for giving the other particles masses. READ MORE

  2. 17. Hunting the Charged Higgs Boson with Lepton Signatures in the ATLAS Experiment

    Author : Alexander Madsen; Arnaud Ferrari; Johann Collot; Ellert Mattias; Albert de Roeck; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; charged Higgs boson; ATLAS; LHC; 2HDM; MSSM; particle physics; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis presents searches for a charged Higgs boson (H±) in proton-proton collisions with center-of-mass energies of 7 TeV and 8 TeV, using data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Multiple search channels are used with the common characteristic of at least one charged lepton (electron or muon) that effectively reduces the multi-jet background and is used for efficient triggering. 3. 18. Top-Quark and Charged Higgs Boson Production at Hadron Colliders : Data Analysis at the DØ Experiment and Simulations for the ATLAS Detector

    Author : Nils Gollub; Tord Ekelöf; Richard Brenner; Patrizia Azzi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Elementary particle physics; ATLAS; LHC; charged Higgs boson; MSSM; D0; Tevatron; top quark; elementary particle physics; Elementarpartikelfysik; Elementary particle physics; Elementarpartikelfysik;

    Abstract : This thesis treats two different projects, both aiming at experimental tests at hadron colliders of some specific predictions of the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics and of its Minimal Supersymmetric extension (MSSM). The thesis is based on four papers. READ MORE

  4. 19. Studies of effective theories beyond the Standard Model

    Author : Stella Riad; Tommy Ohlsson; Mattias Blennow; Johan Rathsman; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Effective field theories; neutrino physics; extra dimensions; universal extra dimensions; Higgs physics; renormalization group running; Bayesian statistics; coupling scale factor; grand unified theories;

    Abstract : The vast majority of all experimental results in particle physics can be described by the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics. However, neither the existence of neutrino masses nor the mixing in the leptonic sector, which have been observed, can be described within this model. READ MORE

  5. 20. Pair production of Higgs bosons in the final state with bottom quarks and τ leptons in the ATLAS experiment : Search results using LHC Run 2 data and prospect studies at the HL-LHC

    Author : Petar Bokan; Arnaud Ferrari; Stan Lai; Richard Brenner; Markus Klute; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Higgs boson pair production; ATLAS; LHC; HL-LHC; particle physics; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics;

    Abstract : After the discovery of the Higgs boson, the ultimate test of the electroweak symmetry breaking and the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics is to establish evidence of Higgs boson self-coupling, which can be achieved by searching for pair production of Higgs bosons. In addition, many theories beyond the SM predict heavy resonances that could decay into pairs of Higgs bosons. READ MORE
