  1. 21. Hunting the Charged Higgs Boson with Lepton Signatures in the ATLAS Experiment

    Author : Alexander Madsen; Arnaud Ferrari; Johann Collot; Ellert Mattias; Albert de Roeck; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; charged Higgs boson; ATLAS; LHC; 2HDM; MSSM; particle physics; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis presents searches for a charged Higgs boson (H±) in proton-proton collisions with center-of-mass energies of 7 TeV and 8 TeV, using data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Multiple search channels are used with the common characteristic of at least one charged lepton (electron or muon) that effectively reduces the multi-jet background and is used for efficient triggering. 2. 22. Search for Dark Matter in events with missing transverse momentum and a Higgs boson decaying into bottom quarks with the ATLAS detector

    Author : Eleni Skorda; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ATLAS; LHC; Beyond the Standard Model; RECAST; Missing transverse momentum; Higgs boson; Bottom quarks; Transition Radiation Tracker; Dark Matter; Fysicumarkivet A:2022:Skorda;

    Abstract : Many astrophysical observations indicate the existence Dark Matter, which is not predicted by the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics. Many theories beyond the Standard Model (BSM) predict new heavy particles called WIMPs (Weakly Interacting Massive Particles). READ MORE

  3. 23. Search for doubly charged Higgs bosons in multi-lepton final states with the ATLAS detector

    Author : Katja Mankinen; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ATLAS; Beyond the Standard Model; Doubly Charged Higgs; Left-right symmetry; LHC; Same-charge leptons; Taus; Transition radiation tracker; Fysicumarkivet A:2020:Mankinen;

    Abstract : Standard Model events with prompt, isolated, same-charge high-pT leptons are rare, and therefore events with such final states provide a powerful signature towards new discoveries. This thesis presents two searches for doubly charged Higgs bosons decaying into same-charge lepton pairs using proton–proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. READ MORE

  4. 24. Search for a Neutral Higgs Boson with DELPHI

    Author : Tord G.M. Malmgren; James Pilcher; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract : The mass of the neutral Higgs boson cannot be predicted by the Standard Model. Therefore, the particle is scanned for at different assumed masses. The search described here was done using data taken with the DELPHI detector during 1993-1994 (Ecm=91 GeV), 1996 (Ecm=161 and 172 GeV) and during 1997 (Ecm=183 GeV). READ MORE

  5. 25. Searching for a charged Higgs boson and development of a hardware track trigger with the ATLAS experiment

    Author : Joakim Gradin; Elin Bergeås Kuutmann; Johann Collot; Richard Brenner; Susan Shotkin-Gascon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High energy physics; charged Higgs boson; Particle tracking; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis describes searches for a heavy charged Higgs boson decaying into a top and bottom quark pair, and the development of a hardware track trigger with theATLAS experiment. The data for the two searches was collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider(LHC) with pp collision energies of √s = 8 and 13 TeV, and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 20.
