    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molybdenum; iron; thorium; uranium.; Atomic and molecular physics; Atom- och molekylärfysik; Astronomy; space research; cosmic chemistry; Astronomi; rymdvetenskap; kosmisk kemi; Condensed matter:electronic structure; electrical; spektroskopi; magnetisk resonans; supraledare; magnetiska och optiska ; egenskaper elektriska; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:elektronstruktur; spectroscopy; relaxation; magnetic resonance; magnetic and optical properties; supraconductors; astrophysics; radiative lifetimes; oscillator strengths; term analysis; Fourier transform spectroscopy; branching fractions; Fysicumarkivet A:2002:Nilsson;

    Abstract : The new generation of high resolution astronomical instruments such as the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) or the Very Large Telescope (VLT) has renewed the demand for accurate atomic parameters like wavelengths, oscillator strengths and line profiles accompanied by reliable uncertainty estimates. Fourier transform spectroscopy has proven to be a powerful tool when measuring these parameters. READ MORE

  2. 7. Gamma-Ray Emission from Galaxy Clusters : DARK MATTER AND COSMIC-RAYS

    Author : Anders Pinzke; Lars Bergström; Olaf Reimer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Galaxy clusters; gamma-rays; cosmic-rays; dark matter; High energy astrophysics; Högenergiastrofysik; teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Abstract : The quest for the first detection of a galaxy cluster in the high energy gamma-ray regime is ongoing, and even though clusters are observed in several other wave-bands, there is still no firm detection in gamma-rays. To complement the observational efforts we estimate the gamma-ray contributions from both annihilating dark matter and cosmic-ray (CR) proton as well as CR electron induced emission. READ MORE

  3. 8. Molecular gas and ionizing radiation in star-forming galaxies

    Author : Johannes Puschnig; Matthew Hayes; Göran Östlin; Amélie Saintonge; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; astrophysics; galaxies; star formation; starburst; interstellar medium; Lyman continuum; Lyman alpha; reionization; gravitational instability; molecular gas; clump formation; Astronomy; astronomi;

    Abstract : In cosmic history, some of the major changes such as reionization were driven by baryons (i.e. the stars and gas in galaxies), despite the fact that they contribute only few percent to the total mass-energy budget in the Universe. READ MORE

  4. 9. Core-collapse Supernovae : Theory vs. Observations

    Author : Dennis Alp; Josefin Larsson; Sergey Tsygankov; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Astrophysics; Supernovae; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : A core-collapse supernova (CCSN) is an astronomical explosion that indicates the death of a massive star. The iron core of the star collapses into either a neutron star or a black hole while the rest of the material is expelled at high velocities. READ MORE

    Abstract : The identity of dark matter is one of the key outstanding problems in both particle and astrophysics. In this thesis, I describe a number of complementary searches for particle dark matter. READ MORE
