  1. 21. Measurement and Control of Attosecond Light Fields

    Author : Erik Mansten; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pulse characterization; Spectral signature; Two-color generation; Pulse compression; Attosecond pulse trains; High-order harmonics; Pulse shaping; Tunable; Fysicumarkivet A:2009:Mansten;

    Abstract : Attosecond pulses are used to study electron dynamics in atoms and molecules. In this thesis, schemes to control the generation of attosecond pulses and pulse-shaping techniques to compress the pulses are presented. Generation of attosecond pulses requires high intensity, which is reached by focusing a pulsed femtosecond laser. READ MORE

  2. 22. Ultrafast Photoionization Dynamics Studied with Coincidence Momentum Imaging Spectrometers

    Author : Yu-Chen Cheng; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photoionization; High-order Harmonic Generation; Extreme Ultraviolet; Free-Electron Laser; Molecular Dissociation; Charge Transfer; Coincidence Measurement; Momentum Imaging; Electron Wave Packet; Fysicumarkivet A:2019:Cheng;

    Abstract : The time scale of the dynamics in atoms and molecules varies from attoseconds (10-18) to picoseconds (10-12) depending on the size of the particles. To study such dynamics, ultrafast light pulses are needed to trigger and capture the reaction. One of the most direct methods consists in ionizing the system and observing the following response. 3. 23. Time-Frequency Analysis in Attosecond Spectroscopy

    Author : Marcus Isinger; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Attosecond; Spectroscopy; Time-Frequency; High-order harmonic generation; Rabitt; Interferometry;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with ultrafast dynamics of electronic processes in rare gas atoms. The processes we explore include photoemission, where we time the emission of electrons moving away from the atomic core following ionization by a photon; and auto-ionization, where the atom spontaneously releases an electron wave-packet following photo-excitation. 4. 24. Attosecond interferometry: techniques and spectroscopy

    Author : David Kroon; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Kroon; Electron wave packet; Attosecond Pulse trains; Photoionization; Photoemission time delay; High-order harmonic generation; Interferometry; Electron dynamics;

    Abstract : The interaction between an intense laser pulse and a gas medium leads to the emission of coherent bursts of light in the extreme ultraviolet range. This process, known as high-order harmonic generation, has today, almost three decades after its discovery, developed into a reliable source of extremely short (on the order of 100 as) pulses of electromagnetic radiation, with a wide range of applications in the atomic, molecular and optical sciences. 5. 25. Angle-resolved photoemission study of unconventional cuprate superconductors

    Author : Qinda Guo; Oscar Tjernberg; Andrea Damascelli; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Unconventional superconductivity; cuprate; high harmonic generation; narrow bandwidth light source; spherical grating based monochromator; time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy; Okonventionell supraledning; kuprat; hög övertonsgenerering; ljuskälla med smal bandbredd; sfäriskt gitterbaserad monokromator; tids- och vinkelupplöst fotoemissionsspektroskopi;

    Abstract : Understanding unconventional superconductivity remains one of the most important unsolved problems in physics. A particularly noteworthy case is the copper-based high-temperature superconductor, which stands out due to its remarkably high transition temperature and relatively simple structure. READ MORE
