  1. 21. Laser Diagnostic Techniques with Ultra-High Repetition Rate for Studies in Combustion Environments

    Author : Jimmy Olofsson; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High-Speed; High Repetition Rate; LIF; PLIF; 3D Visualisation; Engine; Teknik; Technological sciences; Fysik; Physics; Combustion; Laserteknik; Laser technology; Laser-Induced Fluorescence; Laser Diagnostics;

    Abstract : When conducting laser based diagnostics in combustion environments it is often desirable to obtain temporally resolved information. This can be due to several factors such as combustion taking place in a turbulent flow field, flame propagation from a spark plug in an initially quiescent combustible mixture, or rapid, multi-point fuel consumption in a homogeneous charge as a result of compression ignition in an engine cycle. 2. 22. Numerical study on multi-pantograph railway operation at high speed

    Author : Zhendong Liu; Sebastian Stichel; Jens Nielsen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; numerical study; pantograph-catenary system; multi-pantograph operation; dynamic behaviour; high-speed operation; Järnvägsgruppen - Fordonsteknik; Järnvägsgruppen - Fordonsteknik;

    Abstract : Multi-pantograph operation allows several short electric multiple unit (EMU) trainsets to be coupled or decoupled to adapt to daily or seasonal passenger-flow variation. Although this is a convenient and efficient way to operate rolling stock and use railway infrastructure, pantographs significantly influence each other and even significantly change the dynamic behaviour of the system compared to single-pantograph operation in the same condition. 3. 23. Simplified dynamic analysis of railway bridges under high-speed trains

    Author : Christoffer Johansson; Costin Pacoste; Raid Karoumi; Jose M Goicolea; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Dynamic; Railway bridge; High-speed train; Moving load; Multi-span beam; Probabilistic;

    Abstract : The world-wide development of new high-speed rail lines has led to more stringent design requirements for railway bridges. This is mainly due to the fact that a train at high speeds can cause resonance in the bridge superstructure. READ MORE

  4. 24. Microfluidics at High Pressures : Understanding, Sensing, and Control

    Author : Martin Andersson; Lena Klintberg; Cyril Aymonier; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High-pressure microfluidics; supercritical CO2; compressible flow; relative permittivity; integrated electrodes; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Abstract : This thesis explores understanding, sensing, and control in high-pressure microfluidics. The high-pressure regime allows fluids to be forced through narrow channels at substantial speed and creates conditions for fluids of high density and low viscosity—features desired in flow-based chemical analyses. 5. 25. High Speed Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers for Short Reach Communication

    Author : Petter Westbergh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; high speed modulation; GaAs; Semiconductor laser; InGaAs; vertical cavity surface emitting laser VCSEL ; laser dynamics; fabrication;

    Abstract : The vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) is a low cost light source with attractive performance characteristics such as low power consumption, high speed capabilities at low currents, and a circular output beam. These features have made the VCSEL an established component in digital communication networks, particularly in short reach optical data transmission applications where links consisting of GaAs-based 850nm VCSELs and multimode fiber have become the standard solution.
