  1. 11. Silicon Carbide BipolarTechnology for High Temperature Integrated Circuits

    Author : Luigia Lanni; Zetterling Carl-Mikael; Sei-Hyung Ryu; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; silicon carbide SiC ; bipolar junction transistor BJT ; current gain; surface passivation; SiC etching; complementary bipolar; lateral PNP; Darlington transistors; SPICE modeling; high-temperature; integrated circuits; emitter coupled logic ECL ;

    Abstract : The availability of integrated circuits (ICs) capable of 500 or 600° C operation can be extremely beneficial for many important applications, such as transportation and energy sector industry. It can in fact enable the realization of improved sensing and control of turbine engine combustion leading to better fuel efficiency and reduced pollution. READ MORE

  2. 12. Experimental Study of some Potassium and Sodium Bearing Aluminosilicates at High Temperatures and High Pressures

    Author : Faramarz Tutti; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; Phlogopite; Orthoclase; Jadeite; Albite; Calcium ferrite; Hollandite; Dehydroxylation; High temperature; High pressure; Lower mantle; Geochemistry; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Abstract : This dissertation presents the results of a high-temperature and high-pressure experimental study of some abundant aluminositicates, which are the main repositories for the two geochemically important elements, sodium and potassium, in the Earth's crust. Phase transitions of end member alkali feldspars and jadeite clinopyroxene are studied at high and ultrahigh pressures corresponding to the conditions between the transition zone and the deep Earth's lower mantle.     Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fatigue; low-cycle fatigue; fatigue in an inert atmosphere; fatigue in a synthetic diesel exhaust atmosphere; corrosion-fatigue; creep-fatigue; high-temperature corrosion; high-temperature fatigue; synergistic effect; corrosion-fatigue synergy; creep-fatigue synergy; high-temperature alloys; fatigue damage; creep-fatigue damage; corrosion-fatigue damage; ductile cast iron; high-alloyed austenitic cast steel; thermal cycling; precipitation; aging.; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : The future development of engines of heavy-duty vehicles towards reduced CO2 emission will increase the exhaust gas temperature and render the exhaust atmosphere more corrosive. The current service material of exhaust gas components - a ferritic ductile cast iron called SiMo51 - will soon meet its upper-temperature limit. READ MORE
