  1. 1. A Study of EAF High-Chromium Stainless Steelmaking Slags Characteristics and Foamability

    Author : Saman Mostafaee; Pär Jönsson; Margareta Andersson; Malin Selleby; Lauri Holappa; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High-chromium stainless steel; EAF; Slag; Microstructural characterization; Microstructural Evolution; Computational thermodynamics; Solid particles; Viscosity; Foamability; Basicity; Metallurgical process engineering; Metallurgisk processteknik;

    Abstract : A good slag practice is essential for production of a high-quality stainless steel. In addition, the electrical and material efficiency of the electric arc furnace (EAF) can considerably be improved by a good slag practice. The metallurgical properties of the slag are strongly influenced by its high-temperature microstructure. READ MORE

  2. 2. Miniaturized fluid system for high-pressure analytics

    Author : Simon Södergren; Klas Hjort; Sami Franssila; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High-pressure; Microfluidics; Thermal regulation; Fluid mechanics; In-situ sensors; High-pressure analytics; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Abstract : High-pressure chemistry can be used to determine the contents of blood or water samples and to discover new chemistries. However, working with chemistry at pressures of many tens, or even hundreds, of bars often requires expensive and stationary equipment, such as autoclaves or chromatographic systems like high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). 3. 3. Numerical Simulation of High Reynolds Number Wall Bounded Flow

    Author : Tobias Persson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; subgrid model; DES; high; validation; LES; numerical simulation; near-wall;

    Abstract : In this thesis, four different numerical methods are used for predictions of high Reynoldsnumber (Re), wall bounded flows; Large Eddy Simulation (LES) with two different subgrid(turbulence) models, the One Equation Eddy Viscosity model (OEEVM) and the MixedModel (MM), Monotone Integrated LES (MILES), Detached Eddy Simulation (DES) andReynolds Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS). The LES calculations are combined with a wallmodel based on the law-of-the-wall and in DES a hybrid RANS/LES method is used forhandling the near wall region. READ MORE

  4. 4. Heat transfer phenomena and mould flux lubrication in continuous casting of steel

    Author : Akira Yamauchi; KTH; []
    Keywords : Heat Transfer; Thermal Conductivity; Contact Resistance; Mould Flux; Solidification; Lubrication; Infiltration; Friction; Shear Stress; Modeling; Crystallization; Rupture Strength; Solidus; High-Speed Casting; Viscosity; Elasticity; Uniform Cooling;

    Abstract : Overall thermal resistance of the mould flux was measured tomake clear the influence of the mould flux properties on theheat transfer behavior in continuous casting, especiallythermal conductivity and the formation of air gaps in thisstudy. From the investigation of the effect of the mouldsurface temperature and physical properties of the mould fluxon heat transfer through the flux film, following knowledge hasbeen obtained. READ MORE

  5. 5. Study on some phenomena of slag in steelmaking process

    Author : Liushun Wu; Sichen Du; Carlo Mapelli; KTH; []
    Keywords : Slag viscosity; calcium fluoride; fluid viscosity with particles; mixture viscosity; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : The present work is to study slag phenomena in steelmaking process. In order to attain thegoal, a number of high temperature experiments and simulation experiments were carried out. Four master slags were used to study the effect of CaF2 on slag viscosity. READ MORE
