1. Dynamic Modelling of Emulsification in High-Pressure Homogenizers
Abstract : Different approaches and sub-models for the modelling of emulsification in a high-pressure homogenizer are reviewed and compared in terms of both practical aspects and how well they describe what is currently known on the emulsification process in general and on high-pressure homogenization in particular. Special effort is devoted to comparing the model developments presented in the appended papers to their alternatives and previous suggestions. READ MORE

2. Processing of raw Cassava (Manihot esculenta) - Experiments and Modelling
Abstract : The objective of the present thesis was to understand how the quality and performance of dried cassava products could be developed by drying and other processing steps. This goal was achieved in several stages. READ MORE

3. Anisotropy in pearlitic steel subjected to rolling contact fatigue - modelling and experiments
Abstract : In rails and wheels subjected to severe rolling/sliding contact, large plastic deformations accumulate in the surface layer. This decreases the fatigue resistance of components and makes this layer prone to formation of common rolling contact related defects. READ MORE

4. Microfibrillated cellulose : Energy-efficient preparation techniques and key properties
Abstract : This work describes three alternative processes for producing microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) in which pulp fibres are first pre-treated and then homogenized using a high-pressure homogenizer. In one process, fibre cell wall delamination was facilitated with a combined enzymatic and mechanical pre-treatment. READ MORE

5. Microfibrillated cellulose: Energy-efficient preparation techniques and applications in paper
Abstract : This work describes three alternative processes for producing microfibrillated cellulose (MFC; also referred to as cellulose nanofibrils, CNF) in which bleached pulp fibres are first pretreated and then homogenized using a high-pressure homogenizer. In one process, fibre cell wall delamination was facilitated by a combined enzymatic and mechanical pretreatment. READ MORE
