  1. 1. Analysis and Design of Hybrid Control Systems

    Author : Jörgen Malmborg; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lyapunov theory; Mode switching; Multi-controllers; PID control; Simulation; Higher order sliding; Hybrid control; Sliding modes; Automation; robotics; control engineering; Automatiska system; robotteknik; reglerteknik;

    Abstract : Different aspects of hybrid control systems are treated: analysis, simulation, design and implementation. A systematic methodology using extended Lyapunov theory for design of hybrid systems is developed. The methodology is based on conventional control designs in separate regions together with a switching strategy. READ MORE

  2. 2. Tribology of self-lubricating polymer composites for hydropower applications

    Author : Maria Rodiouchkina; Jens Hardell; Kim Berglund; Jan Ukonsaari; Michał Wasilczuk; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; polymer composites; hydropower; sliding wear; sliding friction; self-lubricating; transfer layers; material characterization; surface analysis; high contact pressure; low sliding speed; Machine Elements; Maskinelement;

    Abstract : The ongoing global climate crisis and its impacts calls for urgent actions, such as significant reduction of CO2 emissions by introducing more renewable energy. This has led to a rapid integration of variable power sources, such as wind and solar power, into the electricity systems. READ MORE

  3. 3. Tribology of Metal-Graphite Composites : A Study of Sliding Electrical Contact Surfaces

    Author : Martina Grandin; Wiklund Urban; Staffan Jacobson; Ulf Jansson; Christian Holzapfel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tribology; tribofilm; surface analysis; wear; friction; electrical contacts; metal-graphite; contact resistance; cross-section; nanocomposite coating; copper; silver; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot tribomaterial; Engineering Science with specialization in Tribo Materials;

    Abstract : An environmentally sustainable production of electrical power is important for preserving the earth’s natural resources. In order to utilize this power as efficiently as possible, it is of great importance to minimize the losses, for example in sliding electrical contacts. READ MORE

  4. 4. Thermohydrodynamics of sliding contacts with textured surfaces

    Author : Samuel Cupillard; Paul Allaire; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Abstract : Hydrodynamic sliding contacts like those found in journal or thrust bearings are frequently encountered in various types of machinery from computers to large turbines. These contacts, involving a variation in film thickness, are used to generate pressure in the lubricant film and separate the surfaces in relative motion. READ MORE

  5. 5. The behaviour of antiwear additives in lubricated rolling-sliding contacts

    Author : Aldara Naveira Suarez; Nicholas D. Spencer; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Abstract : Traditionally rolling contact fatigue observed in bearing field applications was subsurface initiated. However, despite an improvement in the properties of steel, some factors such as downsizing in bearing design, extreme loading of bearings as well as demanding application conditions (start-stop cycles) have led to an increase in cases of surface damage related to surface initiated fatigue, which essentially comes from surface distress.
