  1. 1. Photophysical Properties of Organic and Organometallic molecules

    Author : Oscar Rubio Pons; KTH; []
    Keywords : molecule; two-photon absorption; singlet-triplet. spin-orbit; CASSCF; emission; phosphorescence; DFT; B3LYP;

    Abstract : Highly correlated quantum chemical methods have been appliedto study the photophysical properties of substituted benzenes.With the inclusion of spin-orbit coupling, the phosphorescencesof these molecules have been calculated usingMulti-CongurationalSelf- Consistent Field (MCSCF) quadraticresponse theory. 2. 2. Early risk assessment of long-term sick leave among patients in primary health care : risk factors, assessment tools, multidisciplinary intervention, and patients’ views on sick leave conclusion

    Author : Anna-Sophia von Celsing; Thorne Wallman; Sören Brage; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : sick leave; sick leave conclusion; return to work; risk factors; assessment tool; multidisciplinary intervention; risk assessment; gut feeling; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Abstract : Background. Long-term sick leave is one of the main risk factors for permanent exit out of the labour market. The longer the duration of sickness absence, the less likely sick leave conclusion.Objectives and Methods. READ MORE

  3. 3. Towards unbiased 3D reconstruction : in single-particle cryo-electron microscopy

    Author : Dominika Elmlund; Hans Hebert; Sarah Butcher; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Abstract : Cryo-electron microscopy of freestanding molecules (single-particles) plays a pivotal role in the difficult and pressing challenge of determining the structures of large macromolecular complexes. Molecular volumes are generated by aligning large sets of randomly oriented two-dimensional (2D) projection images in three dimensions (3D) before reconstruction is performed using tomographic techniques. 4. 4. Exploring natural language processing for single-word and multi-word lexical complexity from a second language learner perspective

    Author : David Alfter; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; natural language processing; lexical complexity; CEFR; second language learning; machine learning; crowdsourcing;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we investigate how natural language processing (NLP) tools and techniques can be applied to vocabulary aimed at second language learners of Swedish in order to classify vocabulary items into different proficiency levels suitable for learners of different levels. In the first part, we use feature-engineering to represent words as vectors and feed these vectors into machine learning algorithms in order to (1) learn CEFR labels from the input data and (2) predict the CEFR level of unseen words. 5. 5. Genome wide methylation analysis and obesity related traits

    Author : Emil Nilsson; Helgi Schiöth; Christian Benedict; Samantha Brooks; Charlotte Ling; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The most studied form of epigenetics is DNA methylation and several studies have investigated the link between the methylome and body weight. In paper I we analyzed the methylation profile of whole blood in 46 subjects measured with Illumina 27K chip. We provide evidence that obesity influences age driven epigenetic changes. READ MORE
