    Abstract : You Told Me is a practice-based research project and consists of three video biographies (the Who is…? series), and two video essays (Kumiko, Johnnie Walker & the Cute (2007), Madame & Little Boy (2009), an introduction with a contextualization and methodology of the field, and three essays. The dissertation is an observation and analysis of certain functions and meanings of narration and narratives in contemporary art, as well as being an experiment with roles, methods, actions, and narrative functions in an artistic medium – the video essay.     Abstract : This thesis discusses contemporary publishing within the global, literary system through the prism of the transnational publishing project the Myths series, initiated by Scottish publishing house Canongate Books in 2005. By combining the perspectives of world literature studies and sociology of literature, I explore the conception, development and communication around the Myths series (today published in forty countries) in relation firstly to the contemporary changes in the publishing industry, situated within a more general literary debate on globalisation and cultural diversity and secondly the rise of a social order epitomised under the umbrella term “new economy”, in which the practice of strategic communication or marketing storytelling has become increasingly common.     Abstract : This dissertation explores the story of Brazil’s Landless Movement: its historiographical prequel, its narrative components, its modifications, its enactment. The study derives from a non-essentialist understanding of the resistance agent, here construed as political subject – a collective of individuals, contingently unified in a specific political struggle, not necessarily representing a mutual material need, nor a common identity.
