  1. 16. Transcriptional regulation of the Epstein-Barr virus nuclear antigen 1 gene in latent and lytic stages of infection

    Author : Henrik Zetterberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Epstein-Barr virus; EBNA1; Burkitt s lymphoma; nasopharyngeal carcinoma; ; B-lymphocyte; transformation; transcriptional regulation;

    Abstract : Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a lymphotropic herpesvirus that infects more than 90% of humans worldwide. The virus is the causative agent of infectious mononucleosis, a self-limiting lymphoproliferative disorder, and is also associated with a variety of malignancies including Burkitt's lymphoma (BL), Hodgkin's disease (HD), nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), and lymphoproliferative disorders in immunocompromised individuals. 2. 17. Clinical and immunopathological studies in Hodgkin's disease with special reference to prognosis

    Author : Ulla Axdorph; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Hodgkin's disease (HD) and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) have certain features in common, but also distinct clinical and pathological differences. Thus, HD has many features of both an infectious (fever, leukocytosis, eosinophilia, night sweats, lymphadenopathy, splenomegaly) and a malignant process with few tumour cells, T-cell accumulation and sclerosis. 4. 19. Standardization and application of quantitative PCR methods in patients with hematological malignancies

    Author : Maria Malec; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Polymerase chain reaction; RQ-PCR; Minimal Residual Disease; Acute leukemia; Hodgkin s Lymphoma; cytokines;

    Abstract : Using modem combination chemotherapy regimens, it has been possible to increase the rate of complete remission (CR) in acute lymphoblastic (ALL) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The major reason for treatment failure in acute leukemia (AL) is the resistance of leukemic blasts to chemotherapeutic agents, which is accompanied by an inability of the immune system to eradicate residual leukemic cells surviving initial treatment. 5. 20. Targeted CD52 therapy in lymphoid malignancies : a clinical and immunological study

    Author : Jeanette Lundin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : CD52; alemtuzumab; Campath; monoclonal antibodies; chronic lymphocytic leukemia; non-Hodgkin s lymphoma; mycosis fungoides; immune suppression;

    Abstract : There is a great need for developing new treatment alternatives in low grade non Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) including chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). The CD52 antigen, which is expressed on almost all lymphoid malignancies, can be utilized as a target for CD52-directed monoclonal antibody therapy (alemtuzumab, Campath-1 H). READ MORE
