  1. 1. Development of Techniques to Produce Nickel Coated Composite Materials as well as Hollow Nickel Fibres and Kinetic Study of the Process Involved

    Author : Fan Li; Sichen Du; Ioannis Arvanitidis; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Nickel; Chemical plating; Kinetics; Model; Hollow nickel fibres; Thermal decomposition; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : The present thesis was mainly to study the preparation of nickel composite materials by chemical plating process. Nickel coated boron nitride particles, nickel coated spherical silica particles and nickel viscose composite fibres were prepared. Both experiment and model development were carried out to study the kinetics of the processes. READ MORE

  2. 2. Characterizing cavity containing materials using electron microscopy : A study of metal oxides, mesoporous crystals and porous material containing nanosized metal-particles

    Author : Miia Klingstedt; Osamu Terasaki; Syo Matsumura; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electron microscopy; Structural Chemistry; strukturkemi;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the characterization of novel materials by utilizing electron microscopy techniques. The examined materials contain cavities with certain attributes that enables desired properties for applications such as gas separation, catalysis and fuel cells. READ MORE

  3. 3. Biomass to Biofuel : Syngas Cleaning and Biomass Feedstock

    Author : Ramiar Sadegh-Vaziri; Matthäus Bäbler; Per Alvfors; Lilian de Martin; Longcheng Liu; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gas-Solid Reaction; ZnO Sul_dation; Outward Growth; Hollow Particles; Algae Flocculation; PBEs; Fractal Clusters; Restructuring of Clusters; Deposition of Clusters; Primary Particle Aggregation.;

    Abstract : This thesis builds around the idea of a biofuel production process that is comprised of biomass production, biomass gasification, gas cleaning, and fuel production. In this work, we specifically looked into H2S removal as a part of cleaning the producer gas and flocculation of microalgae which is involved in the harvesting of microalgae after biomass production. 4. 4. Submicron Calcium Phosphate Spheres for Biomedical Applications : Synthesis and Use

    Author : Tao Qin; Håkan Engqvist; Fredrik Nikolajeff; Jie Huang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; calcium phosphate; spheres; dentinal hypersensitivity; drug release; tooth bleaching;

    Abstract : Calcium phosphate spheres as biomaterials have been attracting attention in recent years. Calcium phosphate occurs naturally in bone, and a hollow structure could be advantageous for drug loading and release. READ MORE

  5. 5. Plasma Synthesis and Self-Assembly of Magnetic Nanoparticles

    Author : Sebastian Ekeroth; Ulf Helmersson; Nils Brenning; Franz Faupel; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plasma; Synthesis; Self-Assembly; Magnetic; Nanoparticles;

    Abstract : Nanomaterials are important tools for enabling technological progress as they can provide dramatically different properties as compared to the bulk counterparts. The field of nanoparticles is one of the most investigated within nanomaterials, thanks to the existing, relatively simple, means of manufacturing. READ MORE
