16. Solar variability over the Holocene period : disentangling geomagnetic and solar influences on a new continuous 10Be record from Little Dome C, Antarctica
Abstract : Reliable information on solar activity over the Holocene period is important to predict the Sun in the future and to understand the mechanism behind the Sun-climate linkage. Presently, there are discrepancies in the proxy data of solar activity due to reasons that are not yet understood. READ MORE

17. Late Holocene humidity variability in central Sweden
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to reconstruct humidity variability in central Sweden during the late Holocene. A multi-proxy approach was used to infer humidity changes as recorded in a lake and a mire. Age-models were constructed based on radiocarbon dating and the Askja-1875 tephra. READ MORE

18. Speleothems from Warm Climates : Holocene Records from the Caribbean and Mediterranean Regions
Abstract : This thesis contributes to increased knowledge on Holocene climate and environmental variability from two complex and sparsely studied areas. Using a speleothem from Gasparee Cave, Trinidad, as a paleoclimate archive, the local expression of the 8. READ MORE

19. Holocene climate and atmospheric circulation changes in northern Fennoscandia : Interpretations from lacustrine oxygen isotope records
Abstract : This thesis investigates how variations in the oxygen isotopic composition of lake waters in northern Fennoscandia are recorded in lake sediment archives, especially diatoms, and how these variations can be used to infer past changes in climate and atmospheric circulation. Results from analyses of the oxygen isotopic composition of lake water samples (δ18Olakew) collected between 2001 and 2006 show that δ18O of northern Fennoscandian lakes is mainly controlled by the isotopic composition of the precipitation (δ18Op). 20. Assessing Holocene and late Pleistocene geomagnetic dipole field variability
Abstract : Palaeomagnetic studies of continuous geological archives and archaeological artefacts are required to reconstruct geomagnetic field changes beyond the range of historical observations. In this thesis I assess the reliability of sedimentary palaeomagnetic data and Holocene dipole field reconstructions. READ MORE
