  1. 16. Core Biopsy of Breast and Axillary Lesions : Technical and Clinical Aspects

    Author : Shahin Abdsaleh; PG Lindgren; Per Skaane; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiology; Automatic core needle biopsy; Semiautomatic core needle biopsy; Surgical specimen; Dynamic needle behavior; Hormone Receptors; Radiologisk forskning; Radiological research; Radiologisk forskning;

    Abstract : The aims of this work were to image and analyze the needle behavior at automated core biopsy, to investigate the clinical utility of an alternative core biopsy technique using a semiautomated gun in breast and axillary lesions, and also to compare core biopsy with surgical specimens in malignant breast lesions regarding histologic features and hormone receptor expression.In two experimental studies, using butter and silicon phantoms, respectively, the needle pass was imaged and its dynamic behavior studied. 2. 17. Effects of Dehydration and Blockade of the Renin-Angiotensin System in the One-humped Camel (Camelus dromedarius)

    Author : Mahmoud Al Haj; Fred Nyberg; Santi Spampinato; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Blood; biochemical analysis; catecholamine; colorimetric assay; cortisol; dehydration; dromedary camel; glutathione; hematological analysis; HPLC; insulin- like growth factor-1; losartan; plasma; receptors; radioimmunoassay; serum; Pharmaceutical Science; Farmaceutisk vetenskap;

    Abstract : The one-humped or the dromedarian camel is a pseudo-ruminant mammal, well adapted to the hot and dry climates of the desert. Its ability to withstand torrid heat and extreme desiccation is of paramount importance to its survival. READ MORE

  3. 18. Prognosis in carcinoma in situ of the breast

    Author : Fredrik Wärnberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Breast carcinoma; ductal carcinoma in situ; lobular carcinoma in situ; prognosis; histopathological grade; p53; c-erbB-2; Ki 67; Bcl-2; hormone receptors; angiogenesis; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Abstract : The incidence of breast cancer is rising steadily in Sweden and the proportion of carcinoma in situ (CIS) has increased appreciably, most likely due to mammography screening. The aim of this study was twofold: (1) to examine risk factors for subsequent invasive breast carcinoma and breast cancer death after primary ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and (2) to study the biology in the progress between in situ and invasive carcinoma. 4. 19. Role of nuclear receptors in the regulation of human adipose tissue metabolism

    Author : Prasad G. Kamble; Jan W Eriksson; Ingrid Dahlman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : human adipose tissue; nuclear receptors; glucocorticoids; estrogen; PPARγ; lipocalin 2; glucose uptake; lipolysis; adipogenesis; genotype-based recall;

    Abstract : Nuclear receptors modulate expression of genes involved in adipose tissue (AT) metabolism. Their improved understanding may provide new treatment options for metabolic disorders such as obesity, insulin resistance (IR) and type 2 diabetes (T2D). READ MORE

  5. 20. Growth hormone and somatolactin function during sexual maturation of female Atlantic salmon

    Author : Susana Benedet Perea; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Growth hormone; somatolactin; insulin-like growth factor I; GH; SL; IGFI; GHR; SLR; IGFIR; ovary maturation; reproduction; Atlantic salmon; spawning; pituitary;

    Abstract : Background and aims: The growth hormone-insulin-like growth factor I (GH-IGF-I) system is known to act during sexual maturation of female salmonids, but the specific roles are not known. Somatolactin (SL) is a pituitary hormone closely related to GH and is only found in fish. In some species, including salmonids, there are two forms, SLa and SLß. READ MORE
