  1. 21. Prognostic Markers and Mechanisms of Chemotherapy Resistance in Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma

    Author : Karin Fjordén; Tumörmikromiljö; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is an aggressive and heterogeneous disease. Identification of prognostic and predictive markers is important to design individualised and effective treatment strategies. READ MORE

  2. 22. Mine the Gaps : Evolution of Eukaryotic Protein Indels and their Application for Testing Deep Phylogeny

    Author : Pravech Ajawatanawong; Sandra Baldauf; James McInerney; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; indel; insertion deletion; protein evolution; bioinformatics; non-bilateria; eukaryotes; phylogeny; Biology with specialization in Systematics; Biologi med inriktning mot systematik; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär evolution; Biology with specialization in Molecular Evolution;

    Abstract : Insertions/deletions (indels) are potentially powerful evolutionary markers, but little is known about their evolution and few tools exist to effectively study them. To address this, I developed SeqFIRE, a tool for automated identification and extraction of indels from protein multiple sequence alignments. READ MORE

  3. 23. Expression and synthetic activation of [FeFe]-hydrogenases in cyanobacteria

    Author : Adam Wegelius; Peter Lindblad; Karin Stensjö; Namita Khanna; Matthew Posewitz; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry with specialization in Microbial Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot mikrobiell kemi;

    Abstract : Photosynthetic microbes can be utilized for hydrogen production, generating a clean, carbon neutral energy carrier from abundant substrates. Cyanobacteria are photosynthetic prokaryotes with large potential for biotechnological energy applications and several strains are capable of hydrogen production. READ MORE

  4. 24. Olfactory cues and insects - scaling relations and immigration rates

    Author : Petter Andersson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : växtekologi; Plant Ecology;

    Abstract : For herbivorous insects, location of host plants and habitat patches strongly depend on the type of sensory cue that is used during the search process and the probability of detecting a patch depends on the relative attraction between patches of different size. The visual impression of a patch increases predictably with the patch diameter and consequently, immigration rates of visually searching insects are often predicted by the scaling to patch size of visual cues. 5. 25. Searching for Dyson spheres in the Milky Way

    Author : Matías Suazo; Erik Zackrisson; Andreas J. Korn; Hector Socas-Navarro; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Extraterrestrial intelligence; infrared:stars; Astronomi och astrofysik; Astronomy and Astrophysics;

    Abstract : The quest to find intelligent extraterrestrial life has captivated humanity for a long time, motivating the development of various strategies to search for signs of advanced civilizations. These strategies comprise multiple techniques and span different regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. READ MORE
