  1. 1. Hox transcription factors in hematopoiesis

    Author : Jon Mar Björnsson; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor; Haematology; hematopoies; tet; Hox; cre lox;

    Abstract : Hematopoiesis is a lifelong, dynamic process in which a small number of pluripotent hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) residing in the bone marrow (BM) give rise to billions of mature blood cells of both myeloid and lymphoid origin each day. This enormous capacity of HSC has been utilized in BM transplantations for 4 decades and is also very important for future gene therapy. READ MORE

  2. 2. Quality Issues in Interview Surveys : Some Contributions

    Author : Lilli Japec; Daniel Thorburn; Joop Hox; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Interviewer cognitive process; interviewer burden; nonresponse bias; fieldwork; call attempts; interviewer interest; European Social Survey; Labour Force Survey; interviewer attitudes; interviewer strategies; interviewer satisficing; Statistics; Statistik;

    Abstract : In Paper I, I give a brief overview of the “state of the art” in methodological research related to interview surveys and I discuss some implications for survey practices. I study the literature on participation strategies, interviewer effects that can occur during the interview, methods for quality assurance and interviewer training. READ MORE

  3. 3. Evolution of the Neuropeptide Y and Opioid Systems and their Genomic Regions

    Author : Görel Sundström; Dan Larhammar; Manfred Schartl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : neuropeptide Y; opioid; evolution; genome duplication; gene duplication; Hox; SCN; IGFBP; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Two whole genome duplications (2R) occurred early in vertebrate evolution. By using combined information from phylogenetic analyses and chromosomal location of genes, this thesis delineates the evolutionary history of two receptor-ligand systems that expanded by these large scale events. 4. 4. DNA methylation signatures in precursor lymphoid neoplasms : with focus on clinical implications & the biology behind

    Author : Zahra Haider; Sofie Degerman; Magnus Hultdin; Göran Roos; Pieter van Vlierberghe; Umeå universitet; []

    Abstract : Precursor lymphoid neoplasms, namely acute lymphoblastic leukemias (ALL) and lymphoblastic lymphomas (LBL), are characterized by an aggressive proliferation of malignant progenitor B- or T-cells. To improve risk classification at diagnosis, better prognostic and treatment stratifying biomarkers are needed. READ MORE

  5. 5. Investigation of Hox gene expression and Wnt-signalling in basally branching ecdysozoans

    Author : Mattias Hogvall; Ralf Janssen; Graham Budd; Andreas Hejnol; Andrew Peel; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : One of the most important processes in the development of an animal is the determination and patterning of the primary body axis, the anterior-posterior (AP) axis. After the AP axis has been established the embryo grows and elongates through posterior elongation. READ MORE
