  1. 6. The Role of Hox Transcription Factors in the Regulation of Hematopoiesis

    Author : Mattias Magnusson; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor; extracellular fluids; Haematology; Hox genes; Knockout; Hematopoietic stem cells; Hematopoiesis; Transcription Factor;

    Abstract : Hematopoiesis is a lifelong, dynamic process, originating from a low number of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) residing in the adult bone marrow with the ability to self-renew and generate all blood lineages throughout life. Recent findings have demonstrated that the Homeobox (Hox) transcription factors are important regulators of both normal and malignant hematopoiesis, controlling proliferation, differentiation and self-renewal of hematopoietic cells at different levels of the hematopoietic hierarchy. 3. 8. Regulatory Factors that Reveal Three Distinct Adipocytes : The Brown, the White and the Brite

    Author : Tomas B. Waldén; Jan Nedergaard; Stephen R. Farmer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adipocyte; UCP1; brite; brown; white; Hox Zic; miRNA; Physiology; Fysiologi; fysiologi; Physiology;

    Abstract : Adipose tissues have long been considered to derive from a common origin. Even the functionally different brown and white adipose tissues were generalized to share a common origin. Brown adipose tissue is a highly innervated and vascularised tissue containing multilocular and multimitochondrial brown adipocytes. READ MORE

  4. 9. The Role of HoxB4 in Hematopoiesis

    Author : Ann Brun; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor; Haematology; extracellular fluids; adenovirus; gene transfer; knock out; HOXB4; HOXB3; homeobox genes; hematopoietic stem cells; Transcription factors; hematopoiesis;

    Abstract : HOXB4 is one of 39 members of the homeobox (HOX) family, a family of transcription factors involved in embryonic development. Several HOX transcription factors, including HOXB4, are highly expressed in hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) but are downregulated upon differentiation towards more mature progeny cells. READ MORE

  5. 10. Regulation of the Cyanobacterial Bidirectional Hydrogenase

    Author : Paulo Oliveira; Peter Lindblad; Aaron Kaplan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Biology; Biohydrogen; Cyanobacteria; Synechocystis; Anabaena Nostoc; Bidirectional hydrogenase; Transcription regulation; LexA; AbrB-like protein; Biologi;

    Abstract : Today, mankind faces a new challenge in energetic terms: a new Industrial Revolution is imperative, already called by some as an Energetic Revolution. This corresponds to a conversion to clean, environmentally friendly and renewable energy sources. READ MORE
