  1. 1. Light Rhythms : Exploring the Perceptual and Behavioural Effects of Daylight and Artificial Light Conditions in a Scandinavian Context

    Author : Federico Favero; Roberto Bresin; Arne Lowden; Ute Besenecker; Sergio Altomonte; KTH; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lighting design; Context; Light; Behaviour; Perception of light; Perception of time; Associative aspects; Architecture; Daylight; Media Technology; Medieteknik;

    Abstract : This compilation thesis collects multidisciplinary work on the study of the impact of light rhythms on perception and behaviour. The thesis was structured to answer and discuss the questions: “How does a person feel and behave inan illuminated space?” and “Do variable light conditions influence perception, appraisal and motion?”. 2. 2. Wild Poethics - Exploring relational and embodied practices in urban-making

    Author : Anna Maria Orrù; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; choreography; urban-making; naturecultures; critical spatial feminist practice; imagination; embodied methodology; poethics; affective atmospheres; relational assemblages; artistic research;

    Abstract : Nature is not something separated from the city. With this in mind, this research emerges from the act of urban gardening, staging space for naturecultures that reinforce a direct relation to an urban nature. READ MORE

  3. 3. Towards Better Urban Spaces in Harmony with Microclimate: Urban design and planning regulations in hot dry Damascus, Syria

    Author : Moohammed Wasim Yahia; Boende och bostadsutveckling; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Architecture; Arid zones; Built environment; Climate; Climatic design; Damascus; Hot dry regions; Landscape elements; Microclimate; Planning regulations; Thermal comfort; Thermal indices; Urban climate; Urban design; Urban planning;

    Abstract : This research is an attempt to develop further understanding of the relationship between microclimate, thermal comfort, urban design and outdoor space users in the hot dry city of Damascus. This is done by studying the impact of urban regulations on microclimate in different urban design patterns in Damascus. READ MORE

  4. 4. Tissue remodelling in pulmonary fibrosis linked to 5-HT2 receptor activation

    Author : Anna Löfdahl; Lungbiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Serotonin 5HT ; Serotonin class 2 receptor antagonist; Fibroblast; Pulmonary fibrosis; Extracellular matrix ECM ;

    Abstract : After an injury, an immediate reparative response is triggered to replace the damaged tissue, however, in fibrosis, cells remain active despite wound resolution causing a steady build-up of fibrotic tissue. In pulmonary fibrosis,there is a constant regeneration and remodelling of lung tissue where the thin architecture of alveoli become thickened, hampering efficient diffusion of oxygen, as seen in diseases like idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). 5. 5. On Integrated Product Architectures: Representation, modelling and evaluation

    Author : Visakha Raja; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; functional decompositions; product internal organisation; Integrated product architecture; system-component interaction;

    Abstract : Continued growth in the commercial aerospace industry makes aircraft manufacturers look for low maintenance, fuel efficient airplanes and aircraft engines are an important factor in the maintenance and fuel costs. The drive for operating cost reduction leads to innovative engine architectures that can place very different requirements on supplier provided components. READ MORE
