  1. 6. Synthesis of AcGGM Polysaccharide Hydrogels

    Author : Laleh Maleki; Ulrica Edlund; Anette Larsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hemicellulose; O-acetyl-galactoglucomannan; wood hydrolysate; hydrogel; radical polymerization; interpenetrating polymer network; click chemistry; thiol-ene; Michael addition; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Abstract : Lignocellulosic biomass is believed to serve a prominent role in tomorrow’s sustainable energy and material development. Among the polysaccharide fractions of lignocellulosic biomass, the potential of hemicelluloses as a valuable material resource is increasingly recognized. READ MORE

  2. 7. Injectable Composite Hydrogels Based on Metal-Ligand Assembly for Biomedical Applications

    Author : Liyang Shi; Jöns Hilborn; Dmitri Ossipov; Wenxin Wang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; injectable; hydrogel; shear-thinning; self-healing; coordination chemistry; biomedical applications;

    Abstract : This thesis presents new strategies to construct injectable hydrogels and their various biomedical applications, such as 3D printing, regenerative medicine and drug delivery. These hydrogels cross-linked by dynamic metal-ligand coordination bonds exhibit shear-thinning and self-healing properties, resulting in the unlimited time window for injection. READ MORE

  3. 8. Wood-Based Nanocellulose In Lithium Ion Batteries and Electrochemical Coatings

    Author : Hyeyun Kim; Ann M. Cornell; Davide Beneventi; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cellulose nanofibers; lithium ion battery; separator; electro-precipitation; hydrogel; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Lithium ion batteries contain diverse functional polymeric materials, e.g. binders and separators. Naturally self-assembled wood cellulose can be disintegrated to nanosized particles with a diversity of morphology by top-down processes, adjusting the manufacturing parameters. READ MORE

  4. 9. Modification and Utilization of Nanotube-vesicle Networks

    Author : Martin Markström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nanotechnology; diffusion; network; nanotube; biomimetic; hydrogel; vesicle; compartmentalization; poly N-isopropyl acrylamide ; Marangoni; liposome;

    Abstract : Methods based on self-assembly and self-organization for construction of lipid bilayer networks, consisting of vesicles (3-100 μm in diameter) connected by conduits (50-300 nm in diameter), have previously been developed. Control over network geometry, topology, content, and membrane composition has been demonstrated. READ MORE
