  1. 1. Hunting Hydrogen : Structure-property relations in High Entropy Alloy-based metal hydrides

    Author : Gustav Ek; Martin Sahlberg; Ulrich Häussermann; William I.F. David; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydrogen; metal-hydride; High Entropy Alloy; Chemistry with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : Metal hydrides have many uses when switching the energy system from fossil fuels to renewable sources, such as rechargeable batteries, hydrogen storage, hydrogen compression and thermal storage. State of the art materials for these applications such as LaNi5 and TiFe, however, suffer certain limitations such as degradation during repeated hydrogen cycling and harsh activation conditions for initial hydrogen uptake, promoting the need for novel materials. 2. 2. Electrochemical reduction of protons and organic molecules in hydrogen technologies : Liquid Organic Hydrogen carrier and Hydrogen Evolution

    Author : Hamid Ghorbani Shiraz; Magnus Berggren; Xavier Crispin; Ola Wendt; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydrogen Storage; LOHC; Hydrogen Evolution; Electrocatalyst;

    Abstract : In accordance with preventable actions to mitigate the effect of climate change in the modern societal applications, renewable energy is an unavoidable and decisive factor in the energy industry. The energy sources that offer non-depleted and environment-friendly pathways for the energy sector are in focus. READ MORE

  3. 3. Theory of Hydrogen Quantum Diffusion

    Author : Thomas Mattsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; path-integrals; isotope effect; transition state theory; quantum; diffusion; hydrogen; first-principles calculations; nickel;

    Abstract : Atomic hydrogen adsorbed on a metal surface is one of the simplest possible examples of chemisorption, yet it is very challenging. The adsorption and the very elementary process of surface diffusion, a single atomic jump, have been investigated theoretically using several methods. READ MORE

  4. 4. Hydrogen in nano-sized metals : Diffusion and hysteresis effects

    Author : Wen Huang; Björgvin Hjörvarsson; Max Wolff; Gavin Walker; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Hydrogen; diffusion; hysteresis; optical technique; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : Metal hydrides can be used as hydrogen storage materials for fuel cells and batteries, and as sensors for detecting hydrogen gas. The use of metal hydrides for hydrogen storage can be hindered by poor kinetics and low capacity. Moreover, poor sensitivity, long recovery and response time, limit the applications of metal hydrides as hydrogen sensors. READ MORE

  5. 5. The effect of dissolved hydrogen on spent nuclear fuel corrosion

    Author : Patrik Fors; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; alpha-doped; Nuclear waste repository; Hydrogen; Solubility; Corrosion; UO2; MOX; Spent nuclear fuel; High burn-up; Groundwater;

    Abstract : In case of a canister failure in a deep bedrock repository for nuclear fuel, the release of radiotoxic nuclides to the groundwater will depend on the chemical environment near the fuel surface.Due to the presence of large amounts of iron in the canister, hydrogen will be formed if the canister becomes groundwater flooded.
