  1. 1. Ruthenium-Catalyzed Hydrogen Transfer Reactions : Mechanistic Studies and Chemoenzymatic Dynamic Kinetic Resolutions

    Author : Madeleine Warner; Jan-Erling Bäckvall; Andreas Pfaltz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydrogen transfer; ruthenium catalysis; kinetic resolution; dynamic kinetic resolution; racemization; asymmetric synthesis; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The main focus of this thesis lies on transition metal-catalyzed hydrogen transfer reactions. In the first part of the thesis, the mechanism for racemization of sec-alcohols with a ruthenium complex, Ru(CO)2Cl(η5-C5Ph5) was studied. READ MORE

  2. 2. Electrochemical reduction of protons and organic molecules in hydrogen technologies : Liquid Organic Hydrogen carrier and Hydrogen Evolution

    Author : Hamid Ghorbani Shiraz; Magnus Berggren; Xavier Crispin; Ola Wendt; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydrogen Storage; LOHC; Hydrogen Evolution; Electrocatalyst;

    Abstract : In accordance with preventable actions to mitigate the effect of climate change in the modern societal applications, renewable energy is an unavoidable and decisive factor in the energy industry. The energy sources that offer non-depleted and environment-friendly pathways for the energy sector are in focus. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mechanistic Studies on Ruthenium-Catalyzed Hydrogen Transfer Reactions

    Author : Jenny B. Åberg; Jan-Erling Bäckvall; Charles P. Casey; Stockholms universitet; []

    Abstract : Mechanistic studies on three different ruthenium-based catalysts have been performed. The catalysts have in common that they have been employed in hydrogen transfer reactions involving alcohols and ketones, amines and imines or both. READ MORE

  4. 4. Hydrogenation, Transfer Hydrogenation and Hydrogen Transfer Reactions Catalyzed by Iridium Complexes

    Author : Xu Quan; Pher Andersson; Jonathan Williams; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Iridium catalyst; carbene; N; P - ligand; asymmetric hydrogenation; transfer hydrogenation; hydrogen transfer reaction; alkylation; olefin; ketone; amide; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The work described in this thesis is focused on the development of new bidentate iridium complexes and their applications in the asymmetric reduction of olefins, ketones and imines. Three new types of iridium complexes were synthesized, which included pyridine derived chiral N,P-iridium complexes, achiral NHC complexes and chiral NHC-phosphine complexes. READ MORE

  5. 5. Proton-Coupled Electron Transfer from Hydrogen-Bonded Phenols

    Author : Tania Irebo; Leif Hammarström; James M. Mayer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Proton-coupled electron transfer; phenol oxidation; hydrogen bonds; artificial photosynthesis; promoting vibrations; proton transfer; laser flash-quench; transient absorption.; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry;

    Abstract : Proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) is one of the elementary reactions occurring in many chemical and biological systems, such as photosystem II where the oxidation of tyrosine (TyrZ) is coupled to deprotonation of the phenolic proton. This reaction is here modelled by the oxidation of a phenol covalently linked to a Ru(bpy)32+-moitey, which is photo-oxidized by a laser flash-quench method. READ MORE
