  1. 1. Transglycosylation by Glycoside Hydrolases - Production and modification of alkyl glycosides

    Author : Pontus Lundemo; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Glycoside hydrolases; Cyclodextrin glucanotransferases; β-glucosidases; Alkyl glycosides; Thermotoga neapolitana; Organic reaction media;

    Abstract : To enable the transition to a green, bio-based economy, an extensive enzymatic toolbox competitive to traditional chemical procedures is needed. One strong area for enzymes is carbohydrate chemistry, due to the over-functionalized nature of carbohydrates, difficult to handle in traditional chemistry. READ MORE

  2. 2. Dinuclear metal complexes modelling active sites of metallohydrolases

    Author : Martin Jarenmark; Kemisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bioinorganic chemistry; enzymes; hydrolases; models; dinuclear; heterodinuclear; phosphotriesterase; purple acid phophatase;

    Abstract : To study the active sites of dinuclear metallohydrolases new metal complexes that model these sites both in structure and function have been synthesized using two new phenol based dinucleating ligands, 2-(N-isopropyl-N-((2-pyridyl)methyl)aminomethyl)-6-(N-(carboxylmethyl)-N-((2-pyridyl)methyl)aminomethyl)-4-methylphenol (IPCPMP) and 2,6-Bis[N-(N-(carboxymethyl)-N-(pyridylmethyl)amine)methyl]-4-methylphenolate (BCPMP). Both ligands contain pyridyl, tertiary amine and carboxylate groups but in IPCPMP one carboxylate donor is exchanged for a non-coordinating group yielding an unsymmetric ligand while BCPMP is symmetric with identical sets of ligands on either side of the phenol group. 3. 3. Dynamic Systems for Screening, Control and Identification of Protein-Ligand Interactions

    Author : Rikard Larsson; Olof Ramström; Michel R. Gagné; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dynamic combinatorial chemistry; Dynamic kinetic combinatorial resolution; Catalytic screening; Transthiolesterification; Thiol disulfide interchange; Nitroaldol reaction; Lectins; Hydrolases; Dynamic self-inhibition; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : Dynamic systems for screening, control and identification of different protein-ligand interactions are presented. Dynamic chemistry is used to produce new compounds/constituents in situ that can interact with a target molecule. Several entities can be introduced at the same time and interact with one another. 4. 4. Structure-function studies of epoxide hydrolases

    Author : Agata Naworyta; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Epoxides are three-membered cyclic ethers formed in cells via several metabolic pathways. Epoxide hydrolases (EHs) are enzymes that hydrolyse epoxides to the corresponding diols. The main goal of this thesis was to investigate the structures of EHs from the alpha/beta-hydrolase family. READ MORE

  5. 5. Enzyme substrate solvent interactions : a case study on serine hydrolases

    Author : Linda Fransson; Karl Hult; Jürgen Pleiss; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; lipase; esterase; specificity; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Abstract : Reaction rates and selectivities were measured for transacylation of fatty acid esters in solvents catalysed by Candida antarctica lipase B and by cutinase from Humicola insolens. With these enzymes classical water-based enzymology can be expanded to many different solvents allowing large variations in interaction energies between the enzymes, the substrates and the surrounding.
