  1. 11. Polymer Gels and their Interactions with Ionic Surfactants

    Author : Olof Rosén; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; Polymer-Surfactant Interactions; Modified Polymers; Binding Isotherm; Polymer Gels; Swelling Isotherm; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : The response on chemically crosslinked gels and polymer solutions on the addition of ionic surfactants and/or addition of salt at different temperatures have been studied. All polymers studied are water soluble and slightly hydrophobic or hydrophobically modified. READ MORE

  2. 12. Synergistic interactions involving amphiphilic polymers in solution

    Author : Maria Karlberg; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hydrophobic modification; cyclodextrin; rheology; emulsion stability; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; cellulose derivative; degradable surfactants; amylose;

    Abstract : The properties of hydrophobically modified cellulose derivatives in aqueous mixtures with various other molecules have been investigated. Mixtures of a hydrophobically modified polymer and alkali-sensitive, degradable surfactants gave rise to time-dependent viscosities. READ MORE

  3. 13. Modified Starches in aqueous and plastisol coating

    Author : Agneta Jansson; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Starch; Polyvinyl alcohol; Water vapor barrier; Tensile properties; Rheology; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The interest for coatings containing renewable materials has enlarged in the last decade. Materials from the nature are investigated like starch, cellulose derivatives, protein (gelatin), chitosane by many. In this study potato starch has been used. READ MORE

  4. 14. Studies of electrically conductive textile coatings with PEDOT:PSS

    Author : Maria Åkerfeldt; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; textile coating; conductive coating; conjugated polymers; coating parameters; PEDOT:PSS; Textile technology; Textiles and Fashion General ; Textil och mode generell ;

    Abstract : This study investigates electrically conductive coatings of textiles, obtained with a direct coating and the addition of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) dispersion to a thickened polyurethane (PU)-based formulation. Textiles with enhanced electrical conductivity have potential applications in antistatic, electrostatic discharge protective, electromagnetic interference shielding, sensoric and temperature-regulating products. 5. 15. Surfactant Responsive Cross-Linked Polymer Hydrogels

    Author : Jesper Sjöström; Research Policy Institute (RPI); []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Two-step binding isotherms; Resolubilization; Nonmonotonic transient volume changes; Swelling isotherms; Divinyl sulfone DVS ; Polyquaternium; Cellulose ethers; Amphiphilic cross-linked polymers; Responsive gels; Polymer-surfactant interactions;

    Abstract : The focus of the thesis is on chemically cross-linked hydrogels which drastically change their volume when immersed in solutions of different ionic surfactants (with or without added salt). The two main questions addressed are: (1) How useful are simple gel swelling experiments to the study of polymer-surfactant interactions?, and (2) How does the volume of a cross-linked polymer gel change when it is immersed in a surfactant solution, both with respect to the equilibrium swelling and with respect to transient volume changes? Most of the gels studied were prepared by cross-linking linear polymers, which were well studied derivatives of hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC). READ MORE
