  1. 1. Short-Pulse Photofragmentation and Fluorescence-based Diagnostics - Development and Applications

    Author : Malin Jonsson; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2015]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydroxyl radical OH ; Short-pulse excitation; Photofragmentation; Combustion diagnostics; Laser-induced fluorescence; Hydrogen peroxides; Collisional quenching; Fysicumarkivet A:2015:Jonsson;

    Abstract : The work presented in the thesis covers the use of laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) and photofragmentation laser-induced fluorescence (PFLIF) with short laser pulses to determine species concentrations in different combustion environments. To attain quantitative species concentrations using LIF investigations of the influence of collisional quenching on the fluorescence signal strength is of vital importance, which can be done by measuring the fluorescence lifetime. 2. 2. Adsorption, desorption, and redox reactions at iron oxide nanoparticle surfaces

    University dissertation from Lund University, Faculty of Science, Centre for Environmental and Climate Research (CEC), Department of Biology

    Author : Lelde Krumina; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2017-12]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ferrihydrite; Goethite; Secondary metabolites; Reductive dissolution; Catalytic oxidation; hydroxyl radicals; Fenton reaction; SOM decomposition;

    Abstract : Iron oxide nanoparticles are involved in several important biogeochemical processes. The interfaces between aqueous solutions and iron oxide nanoparticle surfaces are found everywhere in nature, and the chemical and microbial processes occurring at these complex interfaces control e.g. nutrient and contaminant availability and transport. 3. 3. Regenerable Organochalcogen Antioxidants An Explorative Study

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Jiajie Yan; Uppsala universitet.; [2017]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; autoxidation; antioxidant; selenium; tellurium; regenerable; multifunctional; radical-trapping; hydroperoxide-decomposing; co-antioxidant; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi;

    Abstract : Antioxidants are widely used to protect organic materials from damages caused by autoxidation, an oxidation process that occurs under normal aerobic conditions. In this thesis, novel multifunctional organoselenium and organotellurium antioxidants were designed, synthesized, and evaluated in search for compounds with better radical-trapping capacity, regenerability, and hydroperoxide-decomposing ability. 4. 4. Physical and Chemical Processes in the Formation of Biogenic secondary Organic Aerosols

    University dissertation from Göteborg

    Author : Åsa M. Jonsson; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2008]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tropospheric chemistry; monoterpenes; ozonolysis; secondary organic aerosol SOA ; G-FROST; AIDA; humidity; temperature; hydroxyl radicals; volatility; pinonaldehyde; climate and health;

    Abstract : Vegetation emits a vast number of biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOC). In the atmosphere they are oxidised, predominantly by O3, OH radicals or NO3 radicals, depending e.g. on chemical structure. READ MORE

  5. 5. Sol-gel Synthesis and Photocatalytic Characterization of Immobilized TiO2 Films

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Haidong Liao; KTH.; [2009]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Photocatalysis; Hydroxyl radical; TiO2 film; Sol-gel; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi; TECHNOLOGY Chemical engineering Chemical process and manufacturing engineering Catalysis; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Kemiteknik Kemisk process- och produktionsteknik Katalys;

    Abstract :    Contamination of surface and ground water from industrial wastes and anthropogenic activities represents one of the greatest challenges to the sustainable development of human society. Heterogeneous photocatalysis, a kind of advanced oxidation process characterized by the production of highly oxidative hydroxyl radicals, is a relatively novel subject with tremendous potential in water treatment applications.
