7. Tumour Survival Signals and Epigenetic Gene Silencing in Multiple Myeloma : Implications for Biology and Therapy
Abstract : This thesis is focused on multiple myeloma (MM), a haematological malignancy that still remains incurable. The pathogenesis of MM is not fully understood and there is a large intra-tumour and interclonal genetic variation in MM patients. READ MORE

8. Alterations in activity and specificity of intracellular proteolysis in disease pathogenesis
Abstract : The ubiquitin-proteasome pathway (UPP) plays a fundamental role in many basic cellular processes. Virtually all events in cellular physiology include control by the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway. Ubiquitinated substrates are degraded by the 26S proteasome, a large multicatalytic protease complex. 9. Asymmetric lateral loading of the human trunk
Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to characterize the biomechanics and neuromuscular control of the human trunk in response to asymmetric lateral loading. The pulling force and strength capacities as well as muscle activation patterns, trunk kinematics and postural balance in relation to lateral trunk flexion and loading were given special consideration. 10. Human intestinal alkaline phosphatase : tissue expression and serum levels
Abstract : Human alkaline phosphatase (ALP) comprises four isozymes, viz liver/bone/ kidney or tissue unspecific (AP), intestinal (LAP), placental (PLAP) and germ cell or PLAP-like alkaline phosphatase, with their main expression in specific tissues as indicated by their names. The isozymes are coded by different genes, but they are closely related, with more than 50% amino acid sequence homologies. READ MORE
