    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Erik Velander; KTH.; [2017]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Power semiconductor devices; DC-AC power converters; Silicon carbide; Insulated gate bipolar transistors; P-i-n diodes; Schottky diodes; Traction motors; Power MOSFET; Krafthalvledare; DC-AC kraftomvandlare; kiselkarbid; IGBT; P-i-n dioder; Schottky dioder; traktionsmotorer; Effekt-MOSFET; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, low-loss gate-drive solutions and a proposed dv/dt-filter have been investigated with focus on train traction converters with dv/dt constraints.By using the silicon carbide (SiC) junction field-effect transistor (JFET), the switching losses can be significantly reduced compared to the commonly used insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT), but complex gate-driver solutions are required for high utilization in terms of loss reduction. 2. 2. Control and Design Aspects of Components and Systems in High-Voltage Converters for Industrial Applications

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Per Ranstad; KTH.; [2010]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High-voltage converter; resonant converter; high-voltage transformer; transformer parasitics; IGBT; soft-switching; control; TECHNOLOGY Electrical engineering; electronics and photonics Electric power engineering; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik Elkraftteknik;

    Abstract : High-frequency dc-dc converters are widely used in power electronic applications, both in consumer products and industrial products. By operating the converter at higher frequencies both a smaller size and better control characteristics can be obtained. READ MORE

  3. 3. Quasi Resonant DC Link Converters - Analysis and Design for a battery Charger Application

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Per Karlsson; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1999]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; quasi resonant DC link converter; soft switching; converter efficiency; IGBT; battery charger;

    Abstract : Environmental aspects have during the last years made electric vehicles an interesting competitor to the present internal combustion engine driven vehicles. For a broad introduction of pure electric vehicles, a battery charging infrastructure is deemed necessary. However, to build and maintain such an infrastructure is costly. READ MORE

  4. 4. Energy-efficient Generating System for HVDC Off-shore Wind Turbine

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Poopak Roshanfekr; [2013]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; surface permanent magnet synchronous generator SPMSG ; IGBT active rectifier; high voltage direct current HVDC ; wind energy; dc-link voltage; synchronous reluctance generator SynRG ; annual energy efficiency; diode passive rectifier; finite element method FEM ; interior permanent magnet synchronous generator IPMSG ;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the design of energy efficient generating systems for off-shore wind turbines. For the generator part of the electric drive system, a surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous generator (SPMSG), an interior permanent magnet generator (IPMSG) as well as a synchronous reluctance generator (SynRG) have been investigated. 5. 5. On integrity assessment of IGBT-based power stacks used in magnet power supplies for particle accelerators

    University dissertation from ; Chalmers tekniska högskola; Gothenburg

    Author : Panagiotis Asimakopoulos; [2019]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : This thesis analyses an electrical testing method for assessing the integrity of an IGBT-based power stack assembly during factory acceptance tests and service stops. The method combines vce measurements with high current in the Zero Temperature Coefficient (ZTC) operating region and with low sensing current within a specific current cycle using a proposed sampling and filtering technique.
