  1. 11. Keratinocyte differentiation. Involvement of the growth hormon (GH)/insulinlike growth factor1 (IGFI) axis and IGF1 post receptor signaling

    Author : Elisabeth Björntorp Mark; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : IGF1R; GH; Id1; keratinocytes; psoriasis;

    Abstract : At cellular level, little is known about the genes that regulate keratinocyte differentiation andproliferation. Psoriasis is regarded as a T-cell mediated inflammatory disease with hyperproliferativekeratinocytes. READ MORE

  2. 12. Studies on N-linked glycosylation in proliferation and viability of normal and tumor cells in vitro

    Author : Magdalena Carlberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Apoptosis; DNA synthesis; IGF-1 receptor; HMG-CoA reductase; lovastatin; mevalonate; N-linked glycosylation; PDGF; SV40-transformation; tumor; tunicamycin.;

    Abstract : A number of studies suggest a critical role of N-linked glycosylation for cellular proliferation. In addition, many transformed and tumor cells have an altered 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase activity and an increased N-linked glycosylation. READ MORE

  3. 13. Immune reconstitution after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

    Author : Brigitta Omazic; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Immune reconstitution; allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation; IgH gene expression; TcRVbeta gene expression; B lymphocytes; T lymphocytes; IGF-1 receptor; thyroid hormone receptor.;

    Abstract : After treatment with allogeneic hernatopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) the patient suffers from a deficient immune system for at least 12 months or longer. During this period, the patient is susceptible to infections and if the state of immune deficiency is prolonged there is an increased risk of relapse of the underlying malignancy as well as development of secondary malignancies. 4. 14. Alcohol and the effect on some appetite-regulating hormones in man

    Author : Jan Calissendorff; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Leptin; ghrelin; octanoylated; PYY3-36; GLP-1; obestatin; alcohol; NPY; IGF-1; IGFBP-1; insulin; glucose; testosterone; cortisol; catecholamines;

    Abstract : Beverage containing alcohol has been used for centuries to stimulate appetite. Ingestion of a moderate amount of alcohol increase energy intake. Regulation of food intake is complex. Several factors cooperate such as neural impulses from sensory organs; sight, smell, gut distension, social setting, memory, current energy status and hormones. READ MORE

  5. 15. Comparatative studies on the IGF system in vertebrates : studies in rats, and in bony, cartilaginous, and jawless fish

    Author : Katarina Drakenberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : IGF receptor; osteichthyes; chondrichthyes; cyclostomi; radioimmunoassay;

    Abstract : Numerous studies have shown the importance of insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) for cellular growth, differentiation and metabolism in mammalian vertebrates. The mammalian IGF system, consists of IGF-1 and IGF-2, the IGF binding proteins (IGFBPs), and the type1 and type 2 IGF receptors. READ MORE
