  1. 16. Immune reconstitution after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

    Author : Brigitta Omazic; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Immune reconstitution; allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation; IgH gene expression; TcRVbeta gene expression; B lymphocytes; T lymphocytes; IGF-1 receptor; thyroid hormone receptor.;

    Abstract : After treatment with allogeneic hernatopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) the patient suffers from a deficient immune system for at least 12 months or longer. During this period, the patient is susceptible to infections and if the state of immune deficiency is prolonged there is an increased risk of relapse of the underlying malignancy as well as development of secondary malignancies. 2. 17. Actions and interactions of insulin-like growth factor-I and insulin in vascular smooth muscle

    Author : Karin E. Bornfeldt; Ulf Smith; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) is a polypeptide with structural and biological similarities with insulin, and the receptors for IGF-I and insulin are homologous. The present investigation was devoted to the actions and interactions of IGF-I and insulin in vascular smooth muscle. READ MORE

  3. 18. Markers and mechanisms of abnormal neurovascular development in the preterm infant

    Author : William Hellström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neonatology; Brain development; Extremely preterm infant; Brain volume; Retinopathy of prematurity; Insulin-like growth factor 1; Neurofilament light; Neurodevelopment;

    Abstract : Background: The extremely preterm infant is at risk of lifelong neurodevelopmental impairments due to brain injuries or abnormal neurovascular development. Mechanisms are largely unknown and biomarkers for adverse outcomes are sparse. READ MORE

  4. 19. Molecular studies of the insulin-like growth factor system in the brain : focus on growth, tumorigenesis and trauma

    Author : Ann-Christin Sandberg Nordqvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : insulin-like growth factors; insulin-like growth factor binding proteins; brain; mRNA; meningioma; glioma; traumatic brain injury; in situ hybridization; Northern blothybridization;

    Abstract : Insulin-like growth factor (IGF) 1 and -2 are synthesized by most tissues of the body and function as autocrine or paracrine agents in a tissue-specific manner. mRNA for IGF-1 and -2, as well as the IGF-binding proteins, are synthesized locally in various regions of the brain. 5. 20. Comparatative studies on the IGF system in vertebrates : studies in rats, and in bony, cartilaginous, and jawless fish

    Author : Katarina Drakenberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : IGF receptor; osteichthyes; chondrichthyes; cyclostomi; radioimmunoassay;

    Abstract : Numerous studies have shown the importance of insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) for cellular growth, differentiation and metabolism in mammalian vertebrates. The mammalian IGF system, consists of IGF-1 and IGF-2, the IGF binding proteins (IGFBPs), and the type1 and type 2 IGF receptors. READ MORE
