  1. 1. Migration of Natural Killer Cells. Matrix interaction, locomotion and regulation of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) by IL-2 and chemokines

    Author : Karin Edsparr; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : NK cell; MMP; Matrigel; migration; IL-2;

    Abstract : Activated natural killer (NK) cells are effective anti-tumour cells. In order to reach target cells in a tumour mass they need to migrate in the extravascular space. READ MORE

  2. 2. Matrix metalloproteinases in natural killer cells. Expression of MMPs, IL-2 activation and killer cell interactions with Matrigel® and model tumours

    Author : Per Albertsson; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Protease; matrix metalloproteinase; killer cell; IL-2; Matrigel; B16 melanoma; tumour infiltration; invasion assay; zymography; Western blot; RT-PCR; light microscopy; fluorescence; electron microscopy;

    Abstract : Introduction: IL-2 activated natural killer (A-NK) cells can recognize malignant cells and exert tumouricidal activities by multiple mechanisms that require close contact with the target cells. Upon adoptive transfer, some A-NK cells accumulate in tumours by migrating from the vascular bed to a position inside the malignant tissue, forming close contacts with target cells. READ MORE

  3. 3. Glucocorticosteroid effects on cytokine production: studies in a glucocorticosteroid resistance model and in allergic airway disease

    Author : Susanne Larsson; Lund Lungmedicin och Allergologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; GM-CSF; cytokine; glucocorticoids; budesonide; IL-2; IL-4; IL-12; asthma; allergic rhinitis; allergic airway inflammation; Respiratory system; Andningsorganen;

    Abstract : Glucocorticosteroids (GCS) are potent anti-inflammatory drugs, probably due to inhibitory effects on cytokine production. However, a small number of asthma patients seem GCS-resistant. Pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin-2(IL-2) and IL-4, produced during allergic airway inflammation have been proposed to induce the resistance to GCS. READ MORE

  4. 4. The ups and downs of T cells The role of costimulatory molecules in the modulation of T cell responses

    Author : Christina Olsson; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunologi; transplantation; serology; CD28; costimulation; CD152; IL-2; NF-kB; AP-1; superantigen; Immunology; T cell; serologi;

    Abstract : T cell activation requires the combination of antigen in the context of MHC and costimulatory molecules to induce a functional immune response. For our studies, we primarily utilized superantigens (SAg) that bind MHC class II molecules as first signal. READ MORE

  5. 5. Regulation of growth, differentiation and survival of B-chronic lymphocytic leukemia cells

    Author : Ola Söderberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pathology; B-CLL; B cells; IL-2; IL-4; IL-10; IL-15; CD40-stimulation; SAC; Thioredoxin; proliferation; differentiation; survival; in vitro; EBV; Patologi; Pathology; Patologi; Pathology; patologi;

    Abstract : Chronic lymphocytic leukemia of B cell type (B-CLL) is the most commonform of leukemia in the Western countries. The signals regulating theexpansion of the B-CLL clone in vivo is yet far from being fully understood. READ MORE
