11. Shb and Its Homologues: Signaling in T Lymphocytes and Fibroblasts
Abstract : Stimulation of the T cell receptor (TCR) induces tyrosine phosphorylation of numerous intracellular proteins, leading to activation of the interleukin-2 (IL-2) gene in T lymphocytes. Shb is a ubiquitously expressed adapter protein, with the ability to associate with the T cell receptor and several signaling proteins in T cells, including: the TCR ζ-chain, LAT, PLC-γ1, Vav, SLP-76 and Gads. 12. On the role of Natural Killer cell immunogenetics for the outcome of immunotherapy in acute myeloid leukemia
Abstract : Numerous studies have revealed that natural killer cells have fundamental roles as effector cells in myeloid leukemias. Thus, understanding NK cell-related biomarkers that influence clinical outcome are warranted. READ MORE

13. Affibody molecules for proteomic and therapeutic applications
Abstract : This thesis describes generation and characterization of Affibody molecules with future applications in proteomics research, protein structure determinations, therapeutic treatment of disease and medical imaging for in vivo diagnostics. Affibody molecules are engineered affinity proteins developed by combinatorial protein engineering from the 58-residue protein A-derived Z domain scaffold. READ MORE

14. Monoclonal antibodies and cytokines for therapy of patients with advanced colorectal carcinoma : a clinical and immunological study
Abstract : There is a great need for developing and improving treatment alternatives in colorectal carcinoma (CRC). The tumour associated antigen (TAA) GA733/CO17-1A is expressed by more than 90% of all CRCs, on the majority of both primary and metastatic CRC cells. READ MORE

15. Cytokine regulation in rodents with experimental arthritis
Abstract : The general aim of this project has been to try to elucidate the mechanisms behind induction of arthritis by using in situ hybridization and immunohistochemical methods to analyse the dynamics of the cytokine network in vivo, in the peripheral Iymphoid system and in the joints of rodents with collagen-induced arthritis (CIA)and oil-induced arthritis (OIA). We first examined the kinetics of cytokine gene expression in vivo, in the draining Iymph nodes of DA rats following immunization with rat type II collagen (RCII) emulsified in Freund's incomplete adjuvant oil (FIA) or with only FIA, which are regimens that induce CIA and OIA, respectively.
