  1. 1. IL-25 and B cells in atherosclerosis

    Author : Polyxeni Mantani; Kardiovaskulär forskning - immunitet och ateroskleros; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IL-25; B cells; ILC2s; IL-5; anti-PC IgM; atherosclerosis; stroke; cardiovascular events;

    Abstract : Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease of medium and large vessels of the body which is mainly characterized by the formation of lipid rich plaques within the arterial tissue. It is the most common cause of cardiovascular disease leading to clinical manifestations of coronary artery and cerebrovascular disease. READ MORE

  3. 3. Development of a protein-free fed-batch process for NS0 cells: studies on regulation of proliferation

    Author : Erika Spens; Lena Häggström; Jean-Louis Goergen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NS0 myeloma cells; protein-free medium; fed-batch; conditioned medium; autocrine growth factors; abortive proliferation; protease activity; aprotinin; gp130; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Abstract : The overall objective of this study was to investigate how NS0 cell proliferation is regulated in protein-free media. The hypothesis was that during the adaptation to growth factor-free media, animal cell lines start to produce their own autocrine growth factors to support proliferation, and after some time in a culture the effects of these factors are lost which results in cessation of proliferation. 4. 4. On causes and regulation of anti-viral defence in asthma and COPD

    Author : Mandy Menzel; Respiratorisk immunofarmakologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; asthma; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; rhinovirus; exacerbation; airway epithelial cell; ; pattern recognition receptors; interferon; allergen; azithromycin; inflammasome; epithelial-derived cytokines; oxidative stress; asthma; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; rhinovirus; exacerbation; airway epithelial cell; pattern recognition receptors; interferon; allergen; azithromycin; inflammasome; epithelial-derived cytokines; oxidative stress;

    Abstract : Rhinovirus infection is a main trigger of asthma and COPD exacerbations. dsRNA, a viral replication intermediate, is sensed by pattern recognition receptors in the airway epithelium leading to down-stream induction of anti-viral interferons. READ MORE

  5. 5. Targeting the IL-33/ST2 pathway in asthma : implications for development, exacerbation and treatment

    Author : Anna Zoltowska Nilsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Asthma is a term that encompasses a disease spectrum with different phenotypes that vary in severity and whose common characteristic is airflow limitation. Allergic asthma is the most common phenotype of asthma and is characterized by allergen induced inflammatory responses, airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR), and remodeling. READ MORE
