1. Membrane-Assisted Isoform ImmunoAssay : Separation and determination of protein isoforms
Abstract : Proteins exist in a variety of isoforms with minor differences, mostly due to their glycosylation patterns, which can modulate their biological functions. It seems to be of clinical relevance to measure the isoform-distribution.Thesis describes a novel technology named Membrane-Assisted Isoform ImmunoAssay (MAIIA). READ MORE

2. Avian antibodies applied in particle enhanced turbidimetric immunoassay : Developement of serum/plasma calprotectin immunoassay and its clinical performance as a marker for bacterial infections
Abstract : Calprotectin is a cytosolic protein in the granulocytes, consisting of S100A8 and S100A9. On the site of inflammation, the neutrophils release the cytosol as an inflammatory response. The circulating calprotectin concentration increases and can therefore be used as marker for neutrophil activation and inflammation. READ MORE

3. Design and development of electrochemical sensors with application in bioanalysis
Abstract : There is a continuous search for reliable, robust, easy to use, portable and cost effective analytical tools with applications in food industry, biomedicine, environmental monitoring and homeland security. The main focus of this thesis is the development of electrochemical (bio)sensors and bioanalysis systems (to be applied in two major fields of interest: food & beverage industry and biomedical research) for monitoring key analytes in complex matrices, such as: meat samples, fermentation broths, and cell culture media. 4. Development and Application of Enzyme- and Antibody-based Assays with Emphasis on Selectivity, Sensitivity and Stability
Abstract : This thesis presents the development, optimisation, and various applications of enzyme-based biosensors and immunoassays, mainly with relevance to environmental analysis. the thesis discusses problems and possible solutions associated with selectivity, sensitivity and robustness of such bioassays with emphasis on various immunoasssay configurations for determination of surfactants, phenols, or drugs, and amperometric biosensors based on enzymes (e. 5. Biomarker detection via lab-on-a-chip integrated immunoaffinity approach for fluorescence and mass spectrometry readout
Abstract : The blood/plasma protein biomarker profile represents the pathological and physiological changes relating to human diseases. However, the plasma proteome reflects a high degree of complexity that results in a challenge for most analytical methods in clinical diagnostics. READ MORE
