  1. 1. Single crystal sapphire dental implants : experimental and clinical studies

    Author : Bahman Fartash; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : edentulous mandible; implantology; sapphire dental implants; overdenture; long-term follow-up; radiography; osseointegration; peri-implant mucosa; corrosion; cell culture; animal experiments; light microscopy; scanning electron microscopy; histometri;

    Abstract : The aim of this project was to evaluate single synthetic sapphire crystals as dental implants, with special reference to correlation of clinical and in vitro/in vivo methods of research. The laboratory studies confirmed chemical stability. READ MORE

  2. 2. On Clinical and Mechanical Aspects in Implant Supported Screw Retained Multi-unit CAD-CAM Metal Framework

    Author : Marco Toia; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Conventionally casted frameworks have been considered the preferredsolutions for complete and partial restorations since the beginningof implantology. However, following technological development, thecomputer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM)with milling the frameworks has been introduced as an alternativeoption with the potential of minimising inaccuracies, reducing theoperator dependence and offering a homogeneous structure with highmechanical properties. 3. 3. On the importance of nanometer structures for implant incorporation in bone tissue

    Author : Lory Melin Svanborg; Malmö högskola; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Introduction Replacing lost teeth with dental implants is today a reliable treatment method associated with good long-term clinical results. Different surface modifications alter the surface topography at micro- and nanometer level of resolution as well as chemical properties, which have shown to be of importance for osseointegration. 4. 4. Conventional spiral and low-dose computed mandibular tomography for dental implant planning

    Author : Annika Ekestubbe; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Artifacts; Dental Implantation; Endosseous; methods; Dental Implants; Humans; Jaw; Edentulous; radiography; Mandible; radiography; Patient Care Planning; Phantoms; Imaging; Radiation Dosage; Radiography; Dental; methods; Reproducibility of Results; Tomography; X-Ray; instrumentation; methods; Tomography; X-Ray Computed; methods;

    Abstract : Absorbed doses to radiosensitive organs in the head and neck from pre-implant conventional hypocycloidal, conventional spiral and computed tomography (CT) were measured with thermoluminescent dosimeters in an anthropomorphic phantom head. From conventional tomography organ doses, except to the major salivary glands, were below 0.2 mGy. READ MORE
