  1. 11. Exploring sensitivity to nonverbal communication in controlled settings : Methodological considerations

    Author : Gunilla Svidén; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Sensitivity to nonverbal communication; Methods in research on nonverbal communication; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Abstract : One of the issues addressed in this thesis concerns whether and how sensitivity to nonverbal communication develops during a period of time spent in professional education. In addition, this investigation is an attempt to gain insight into the complex questions which arise when nonverbal communication is studied from different theoretical perspectives and by employing different research methods. 2. 12. Evolutionary innovation : Early industrial uses of genetic engineering

    Author : Maureen McKelvey; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Biotechnology industry; Economics of innovation; Evolutionary Economics; Genentech; human growth hormone; Kabi; technological innovation; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Abstract : Based on an analysis of biological and economic theories of evol~tion, this dissertation first specifies evolutionary innovation and then uses it toanalyze early industrial uses of genetic engineering. Innovation refers totechnological innovation processes, i.e. series of innovative activitiesresulting in technical change. READ MORE

  3. 13. The trace of metals : Use, emissions and sediment load of urban heavy metals

    Author : Arne Jonsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Abstract : Urban areas have been considered potential ecological hot spots for metal pollution. This is the result of three trends. First, the 20th century saw a rapid increase in the use of many materials, including metals, in the industrialized world. Second, urbanization has made towns and cities areas nodes of material flows. 4. 14. Spatial modeling in sediments

    Author : Åsa Danielsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Abstract : In a marine environment the sediments play an important role. They act as sinks, where the concentrations often are higher than in the water mass above, but also as sources for numerous pollutants. READ MORE

  5. 15. Haloacetates in precipitation

    Author : Lena von Sydow; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Abstract : Haloacetates are a group of fluorinated, chlorinated and brominated organic compounds that pose a potential threat to the environment, because they are present in relatively high concentrations in precipitation and they are toxic to plants. At the time the research described in this thesis was begun, it had been suggested that atmospheric degradation of chlorinated solvents and CFC replacements were responsible for the presence of haloacetates in precipitation in populous regions.
