  1. 1. Hybrid Routing in Next Generation IP Networks : QoS Routing Mechanisms and Network Control Strategies

    Author : Antoine B Bagula; Björn Pehrson; Bukhard Stiller; KTH; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teletraffic systems; Teletrafiksystem;

    Abstract : Communication networks have evolved from circuit-switched and hop-by-hop routed systems into hybrid data/optical networks using the Internet as a common backbone carrying narrow- and broad-band traffic offered by a multitude of access networks. This data/optical backbone is built around a multi-technology/multi-protocol routing architecture which runs the IP protocols in a collapsed IP stack where ATM and SONET/SDH have been replaced by the suite of Generalized Multiprotocol Label Switching (GMPLS) protocols. 2. 2. The Design and Application of a Simplified Guaranteed Service for the Internet

    Author : Evgueni Ossipov; KTH; []
    Keywords : IP QoS; guaranteed service; scheduling; signaling protocol;

    Abstract : Much effort today in the Internet research community isaimed at providing network services for applications that werenot under consideration when the Internet was originallydesigned. Nowadays the network has to support real-timecommunication services that allow clients to transportinformation with expectations on network performance in termsof loss rate, maximum end-to-end delay, and maximum delayjitter. 3. 3. On Admission Control for IP Networks Based on Probing

    Author : Ignacio Más; Gunnar Karlsson; Wolfgang Effelsberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Admission control; QoS; IP networks; Telecommunication; Telekommunikation;

    Abstract : The current Internet design is based on a best-effort service, which combines high utilization of network resources with architectural simplicity. As a consequence of this design, the Internet is unable to provide guaranteed or predictable quality of service (QoS) to real-time services that have constraints on end-to-end delay, delay jitter and packet loss. 4. 4. Contributions to IP-based wireless communications

    Author : Héctor Luis Velayos Munoz; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The introduction of IP-based communications in wirelesssystems posed several research issues. In this thesis, wepresent different contributions to address some of the issuesin terminals and radio access networks. Firstly, we look atapplication adaptation to varying levels in quality of service(QoS). READ MORE

  5. 5. On Unicast QoS Routing in Overlay Networks

    Author : Dragos Ilie; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURAL SCIENCES; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : In the last few years the Internet has witnessed a tremendous growth in the area of multimedia services. For example YouTube, used for videosharing [1] and Skype, used for Internet telephony [2], enjoy a huge popularity, counting their users in millions. READ MORE
