  2. 2. Infrared spectroscopy : a tool for protein characterization

    Author : Chenge Li; Andreas Barth; Silvia Maria Doglia; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Abstract : Infrared (IR) spectroscopy, which belongs to vibrational spectroscopy, detects the vibrations of molecules, for example, proteins. The absorption of the peptide group gives rise to 9 characteristic bands in the infrared region, named A, B, I-VII, with a decreasing energy or wavenumber (cm-1). READ MORE

  3. 3. Spectral Analysis of Neutron Capture Elements in the Laboratory and Stars

    Author : Martin Lundqvist; Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cosmic chemistry; Astronomy; space research; Atom- och molekylärfysik; Atomic and molecular physics; Astronomi; Sm; Hf; Os; Ir; Neutron capture processes; rymdvetenskap; kosmisk kemi; cool stars; Spectroscopy; atomic data;

    Abstract : The pedigree of the elements heavier than iron is a vital question in the history and evolution of our galaxy. The elements up to and including those of the iron group are produced mainly through fusion processes within stars, giving the stars their energy. READ MORE

  5. 5. Time-Frequency Analysis in Attosecond Spectroscopy

    Author : Marcus Isinger; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Attosecond; Spectroscopy; Time-Frequency; High-order harmonic generation; Rabitt; Interferometry;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with ultrafast dynamics of electronic processes in rare gas atoms. The processes we explore include photoemission, where we time the emission of electrons moving away from the atomic core following ionization by a photon; and auto-ionization, where the atom spontaneously releases an electron wave-packet following photo-excitation.
