  1. 1. Immunological effects of isolated regional perfusion in malignant melanoma

    Author : Junko Johansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Melanoma; Isolated regional perfusion; ILP; IHP; Melphalan; Immunogenic cell death; T cells; Monocytes; ISG;

    Abstract : Malignant melanoma patients with metastatic disease confined to the limbs or liver may be treated with hyperthermic isolated regional perfusion with a chemotherapeutic agent, most commonly melphalan. This procedure enables much higher tissue concentrations of the chemotherapeutic agent compared with systemic administration. READ MORE

  2. 2. Viperin vs. tick-borne encephalitis virus : mechanism of a potent antiviral protein

    Author : Kirstin Vonderstein; Anna Överby Wernstedt; Magnus Evander; Sonja Best; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tick-borne encephalitis virus; TBEV; type-I interferon; IFN; Interferon-stimulated gene; ISG; viperin; GBF1; CIAO1; antiviral protein; genome replication; particle release; capsid;

    Abstract : Tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) is a very important virus medically, causing mild or severe encephalitis often with long-lasting sequelae. Treatment of tick-borne encephalitis is limited to supportive care, and antiviral drugs are much needed.The type-I interferon (IFN) system is the first line of host defense against many viruses. 3. 3. Contributions to the Development of Automobile Electrical Power System

    Author : Urban Kristiansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; electrical power system; battery state of charge; automobile; start system; battery; alternator; generator; starter;

    Abstract : Development trends for the Automobile Electrical Power System (AEPS) are discussed. Two systems are compared with respect to cost, weight, number of components, reliability and noise. READ MORE

  4. 4. Interfering with interferons : interplay between SARS-CoV-2 and interferon response

    Author : Xi Chen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) caused the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, which has been an ongoing global health crisis. At the beginning of the pandemic, all the efforts were directed toward understanding the pathogenesis of the virus. READ MORE

  5. 5. Interplay between tick-borne encephalitis virus and the host innate immunity

    Author : Chaitanya Kurhade; Anna Överby Wernstedt; Nelson Gekara; Helen Lazear; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Virology; Flavivirus; IPS-1; Interferon; Viperin; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Abstract : Flaviviruses are important emerging and re-emerging arthropod-borne pathogens that cause significant morbidity and mortality in humans. It consists of globally distributed human pathogens such as tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV), West Nile virus (WNV), Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV), yellow fever virus (YFV), dengue virus (DENV), and Zika virus (ZIKV).
