1. Validation of antibodies for tissue based immunoassays
Abstract : In situ protein detection in human tissues using antibodies reveals the cellular protein localization, and affinity-based proteomic studies can help to discover proteins involved in the development of diseases. However, antibodies often suffer from cross-reactivity, and the lack of positive and negative tissue controls for uncharacterized proteins complicates the mapping of the proteome. READ MORE

2. Mapping viruses in non-malignant tonsils, nasal polyps, sinonasal inverted papilloma and laryngeal cancer
Abstract : Background: The upper respiratory tract is exposed to viruses, which can lead to infection and cancer development. We chose to study common and/or chronic diseases along with common and cancer related viruses in the upper airway. READ MORE

3. Human papillomavirus infection, genetic instability and invasive properties of cervical lesions
Abstract : Cancer of the uterine cervix is one of the most frequent malignancies in women worldwide. Approximately half a million new cases of cervical cancer are diagnosed each year, and about 200 000 women die from the disease. Human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA has been shown to be present in about 90 % of all cervical cancers. READ MORE

4. Characterization of Centrally Expressed Solute Carriers : Histological and Functional Studies with Transgenic Mice
Abstract : The Solute Carrier (SLC) superfamily is the largest group of membrane-bound transporters, currently with 456 transporters in 52 families. Much remains unknown about the tissue distribution and function of many of these transporters. READ MORE

5. Human papillomaviruses : role in cervical dysplasia and carcinoma, and use as molecular risk marker for progression
Abstract : The general aim of these studies was to define the role of infection with oncogenic human papillomaviruses (HPV) for development of cervical dysplasia and to obtain early molecular markers for progression to carcinoma. The results of cytological screening of 500 women in the Stockholm Gynaecologic Health Control were compared with HPV detection by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and in situ hybridisation (ISH).
