  1. 1. Chromatin Remodeling by BRG1 and SNF2H : Biochemistry and Function

    Author : Patrik Asp; Ann-Kristin Östlund Farrants; Anthony Imbalzano; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; chromatin; chromatin remodeling; SWI SNF; ISWI; BRG1; SNF2H; Prp8; RNA; transcription; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : Chromatin is a highly dynamic, regulatory component in the process of transcription, repair, recombination and replication. The BRG1 and SNF2H proteins are ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling proteins that modulate chromatin structure to regulate DNA accessibility for DNA-binding proteins involved in these processes. 2. 2. Chromatin remodelling in Pol I and III transcription

    Author : Erica Cavellán; Ann-Kristin Östlund Farrants; Gernot Längst; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell biology; Cellbiologi;

    Abstract : Compaction of chromosomes in the eukaryotic cell is due to interactions between DNA and proteins and interactions between proteins. These two types of interaction form a dynamic structure, known as "chromatin". The condensation of chromatin must be carefully regulated, since the structure is an obstacle for factors that need access to the DNA. READ MORE

  3. 3. Gene regulation by chromatin remodelling complexes : SWI/SNF complex in mRNA processing and B-WICH complex in ribosomal gene expression

    Author : Antoni Gañez Zapater; Ann-Kristin Östlund-Farrants; Christopher W.J. Smith; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chromatin remodelling; SWI SNF; Brg1; Brm; alternative splicing; cleavage and polyadenylation; B-WICH; WSTF; ribosomal genes; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this project is to investigate the roles of chromatin remodelling complexes in gene regulation. It is focused on two groups of chromatin complexes: the mammalian BRG1 and BRM SWI/SNF complexes and the ISWI-containing B-WICH complex.Study 1 investigates the role of SWI/SNF complexes in alternative splicing. 4. 4. Chromatin remodelling and gene regulation

    Author : Birgitta Gelius; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Chromatin plays an important role in gene regulation, as it forms an obstacle for a number of proteins that need access to the DNA. Several protein complexes that open up the chromatin structure have been identified and some of these are important for gene regulation. READ MORE
