  2. 2. Towards the Rational Design of Molecularly Imprinted Polymers

    Author : Håkan S Andersson; Ann-Christin Koch-Schmidt; Ian A Nicholls; Klaus Mosbach; Richard F Venn; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Thermodynamics; Molecular Recognition; Polyvalency; Cooperativity; Electrostatic Interactions; Hydrophobic Effect; Chromatography; Frontal Analysis; HPLC; Spectroscopy; Molecularly Imprinted Polymer; Molecular Imprinting; Crown Ether; Template Polymerisation; Cyclodextrin; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; Biotechnology; Bioteknik; molecular recognition; Biokemi;

    Abstract : Molecular imprinting is a technique by which polymeric materials selective for a given target molecule can be created through a casting procedure. Functionalised monomers are added to a solution of molecular templates. READ MORE

  3. 3. New Strategies for Preparing Polymers with Hierarchical Architectures

    Author : Natacha Ndizeye; Ian A. Nicholls; Alessandra Maria Bossi; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Liquid crystalline media; molecularly imprinted polymers; non-ionic deep eutectic solvents; quartz crystal microbalance; Organic Chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The objective of this thesis was to explore novel approaches for controlling morphologies and molecular recognition behaviour of polymers and to use these strategies in conjunction with the molecular imprinting technique in order to either enhance polymer performance in quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensor applications, or as an alternative to conventional solvents of polymerization. In Papers I and II, the use of liquid crystalline media in the synthesis of molecularly imprinted polymers was demonstrated. READ MORE

  4. 4. Strategies for developing peptide and protein selective plastic antibodies

    Author : Rashmi Mahajan; Ian A. Nicholls; Subramanian Suriyanarayanan; Börje Sellergren; Alessandra Maria Bossi; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Competitive assays; molecularly imprinted polymer; magnetic nanoparticle; nanogel; nanoparticle; plastic antibody; solid-phase synthesis; QCM.; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : The objective of the thesis was to explore approaches for the development of molecularly imprinted materials with predetermined selectivity for peptide or protein targets. In particular, the work has focused on molecularly imprinted nanoparticles synthesized using solid-phase synthesis protocols. READ MORE

  5. 5. Fundamental Studies on Molecularly Imprinted Materials

    Author : Kerstin Golker; Ian A. Nicholls; Ken J. Shea; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemometrics; molecular dynamics; molecularly imprinted polymer; molecular imprinting; morphology; polymer; principal component analysis;

    Abstract : The thesis focuses on fundamental studies aimed at elucidating factors that influence molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) formation and ligand recognition. To this end, a series of computational techniques, in particular chemometrics and molecular dynamics (MD) in conjunction with polymer synthesis and physical characterization studies have been employed.
