  1. 6. A search for solar dark matter with the IceCube neutrino detector : Advances in data treatment and analysis technique

    Author : Marcel Christian Robert Zoll; Christian Walck; Juan Jose Henrandez Rey; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; neutrino; WIMP; dark matter; cluster analysis; sun; IceCube; IC86; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : There is compelling observational evidence for the existence of dark matter in the Universe, including our own Galaxy, which could possibly consist of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) not contained in the standard model (SM) of particle physics. WIMPs may get gravitationally trapped inside heavy celestial bodies of ordinary matter. READ MORE

  2. 7. Exploring the potentials of next-generation, wavelength-shifting, optical sensors for IceCube

    Author : Jakob Beise; Erin O'Sullivan; Christian Ohm; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Neutrino Physics; Astroparticle Physics; Supernovae; Wavelength Shifters; IceCube;

    Abstract : The IceCube Neutrino Observatory has sensitivity to MeV electron antineutrinos from core-collapse supernovae through an excess of the detection rate over the background. Wavelength-shifting sensors have the potential to greatly increase photon collection making it a promising candidate for improving the measurement of the supernova neutrino light curve in IceCube-Gen2. 3. 8. A Search for Dark Matter in the Sun with AMANDA and IceCube

    Author : Olle Engdegård; Olga Botner; Allan Hallgren; Jodi Cooley; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dark matter; WIMP; neutralino; MSSM; Kaluza-Klein; IceCube; AMANDA; neutrino telescope; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics;

    Abstract : A search for weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) annihilating in the Sun was performed with the IceCube and AMANDA neutrino telescopes, using data from 2008 corresponding to 149 days of livetime. Assuming that particles in the dark matter halo scatter and accumulate in the centre of the Sun, Majorana WIMPs may pair-wise annihilate and give rise to a neutrino signal detectable in an experiment at Earth. 4. 9. Dark Matter in the Galactic Halo : A Search Using Neutrino Induced Cascades in the DeepCore Extension of IceCube

    Author : Henric Taavola; Olga Botner; Allan Hallgren; Carlos Perez de los Heros; Jodi Cooley; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dark matter; WIMP; neutralino; MSSM; neutrino telescope; IceCube; DeepCore; Galactic halo; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics;

    Abstract : A search for Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) annihilating in the dark matter halo of the Milky Way was performed, using data from the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and its low-energy extension DeepCore. The data were collected during one year between 2011 to 2012 corresponding to 329.1 days of detector livetime. READ MORE

  5. 10. Searching for dark matter in the Galactic Halo with IceCube using high energy cascades

    Author : Samuel Flis; Klas Hultqvist; Chad Finley; Emmanuel Moulin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; IceCube; neutrino; dark matter; halo; Milky Way; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The presence of dark matter is inferred at scales ranging from rotations of galaxies to imprints in the CMB – the Big Bang after-glow. The nature of dark matter is, however, still unknown as no detection other than the gravitational one has been made. READ MORE
