  2. 2. Enzymes and electron transport in microbial chlorate respiration

    Author : Jan Bohlin; Thomas Nilsson; Lars-Gunnar Franzén; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ideonella dechloratans; c cytochromes; chlorate; chlorate reductase; chlorite dismutase; heterologous expression; heme reconstitution; electron transport; oxidoreductas; Chemistry; Kemi; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Microbial chlorate respiration plays an important role in the turnover of oxochlorates in nature and industrial waste management. This thesis deals with the characterization of the molecular components of chlorate respiration in Ideonella dechloratans. READ MORE

  3. 3. Enzymes and genes for microbial metabolism ofoxochlorates

    Author : Helena Danielsson Thorell; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Oxochlorates can be used as electron acceptors for microbial respiration in a variety of bacterial species, and oxochlorate respiration plays a substantial role in the biotransformation of these environmental contaminants. Although oxochlorate respirers are widely spread in the environment, only few enzymes and even fewer genes, involved in the metabolism of oxochlorates have been isolated and characterised. READ MORE

  4. 4. c Cytochromes as Electron Carriers in Microbial Chlorate Respiration

    Author : Anna Smedja Bäcklund; Thomas Nilsson; Pia Ädelroth; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; c cytochrome; chlorate reduction; electron transport; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Microbial respiration of oxochlorates is important for the biotreatment of effluents from industries where oxochlorates are produced or handled. Several bacterial species are capable to use perchlorate and/or chlorate as an alternative electron acceptor in absence of oxygen. READ MORE

  5. 5. Oxygen-dependent regulation of key components in microbial chlorate respiration

    Author : Miriam Hellberg Lindqvist; Thomas Nilsson; Stefan Nordlund; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Anaerobic respiration; Gene expression; Chlorate; Chlorate reductase; Chlorite dismutase; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Contamination of perchlorate and chlorate in nature is primarily the result of various industrial processes. The microbial respiration of these oxyanions of chlorine plays a major role in reducing the society’s impact on the environment. READ MORE
