  1. 1. Human IgE - What We Can Learn from Repertoire Studies and How We Can Use Them as Tools

    Author : Mattias Levin; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Allergy; antibodies; IgE; transcriptome analysis; immunotherapy; molecular biology;

    Abstract : Antibodies of the IgE isotype play a key role as the allergen recognizer in allergic disease, which today affects as much as a third of the population in the industrialized parts of the world. Despite this crucial role of IgE, our knowledge of IgE repertoires and how we can utilize the information hidden in monoclonal IgE to improve the quality of life of allergic patients, is limited. 2. 2. Early Immunostimulatory Effects of IgE- and IgG Antibodies

    Author : Fredrik Hjelm; Birgitta Heyman; Sandra Kleinau; Robert Harris; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Immunology; Antibodies; Fc receptors; Antigen presentation; B cells; T cells; Immunologi;

    Abstract : Antibodies have the ability to influence their own production in a process called antibody feedback regulation. Depending on the type of antigen and the subclass of the antibody, the outcome of feedback regulation can be complete suppression or several hundred-fold enhancement of the antibody response. 3. 3. Temporary neonatal exposure to whole and hydrolysed cow's milk proteins. Studies of macromolecular absorption and immunological variables

    Author : Pekka O Juvonen; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; beta-lactoglobulin; ovalbumin; cow s milk proteins; antibodies; IgG; IgE; secretory IgA; alpha-lactalbumin; breast-feeding; Pediatrics; Pediatri; early infant feeding; casein hydrolysate; Human milk; cow s milk;

    Abstract : The aim of this work was to study prospectively the effects of different feeding regimens during the first three days of life. A group of 129 infants were randomly assigned at birth to one of three feeding regimens: human milk (HM), cow's milk formula (CMF), or a casein hydrolysate formula (CHF). READ MORE

  4. 4. Feedback Enhancement of Immune Responses by IgE, IgM, and IgG3 Antibodies

    Author : Zhoujie Ding; Birgitta Heyman; Eva Severinson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IgE; IgM; IgG3; antibody responses; T-cell responses; antigen transportation; antigen presentation; complement; complement receptors 1 and 2; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Abstract : Antibodies can enhance or suppress the immune responses against their specific antigens. This phenomenon is known as antibody-mediated feedback regulation. We have studied the mechanisms underlying IgE-, IgM-, and IgG3-mediated enhancement of immune responses in mouse models using intravenous immunization. READ MORE

  5. 5. Fc receptors and feedback regulation by antibodies

    Author : Mikael Karlsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Mouse; B lymphocytes; Fc; receptors; IgG; IgE; FcgRI; FcgRII; FcgRIII; Fc e RI; CD23; Rh prophylaxis; Haemolytic disease of the newborn; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Abstract : The purpose of this investigation was to determine the role of Fc receptors for IgG (FcγRI, FcγRIIB, FcγRIII and FcRn) in immunoregulation. IgG is known to enhance the response to soluble antigens such as bovine serum albumin whereas the response to particulate antigens is suppressed. READ MORE
