  1. 6. Tissue Factor in Complex : Studies of interactions between blood coagulation proteins

    Author : Karin Carlsson; Magdalena Svensson; Susanne Wisén; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Many biological processes rely on specific protein-protein interactions, for example immune responses, cell signaling, transcription, and blood coagulation. Blood coagulation is initiated when a vessel wall is damaged, exposing tissue factor (TF) to the circulating factor VII/factor VIIa (FVII/FVIIa) which results in the formation of the TF:FVIIa complex and thereby the initiation of blood coagulation. 2. 7. Preclinical tumor-immune modeling : For the identification of immunomodulatory drugs

    Author : Tove Selvin; Mårten Fryknäs; Rolf Larsson; Claes Andersson; Malin Jarvius; Brinton Seashore-Ludlow; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immuno-oncology; anti-cancer drugs; preclinical modeling; drug screening; repurposing;

    Abstract : For a long time, the field of cancer research was dominated by a tumor cell-centric view. That, however, changed once it became recognized that medical cancer treatment is largely influenced by the combined effect exerted on both cancer and immune cells. READ MORE

  3. 8. Immune mechanisms in atherosclerosis

    Author : Ejaz Ahmed; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : atherosclerosis; diabetes; stroke; rheumatoid arthritis; autoantibodies; anticardiolipin; oxidized LDL; hypercholesterolernia; IFN-gamma TNF-alpha IL-1beta IL-1Ra.;

    Abstract : Atherosclerosis is a multifactorial chronic inflammatory disorder. Humoral immune factors as anticardiolipin antibodies (aCL), anti-oxLDL antibodies, circulating immune complexes (CICs), and proinflammatory cytokines such as IFN-gamma, TNF-alpha and EL-1beta have been implicated in atherogenesis. 4. 9. Investigating the activation and regulation of the proteasome : an essential proteolytic complex

    Author : Patrick Masson; Patrick Young; Marcus Groettrup; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Proteasome; PA28gamma; Transcriptional regulation; Drosophila; 26S; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : The proteasome is a major non-lysosomal proteolytic complex present in eukaryotic cells and has a central role in regulating many protein levels. The complex has been shown to participate in various intracellular pathways including cell cycle regulation or quality control of newly synthesized proteins and many other key pathways. READ MORE

  5. 10. Immune modulation in serous epithelial ovarian cancer : focus on the role of tumor-derived exosomes

    Author : Alireza Labani Motlagh; Lucia Mincheva-Nilsson; Ola Winqvist; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ovarian cancer; EOC; HGSC; exosomes; NKG2D; MICA B; ULBP; DNAM-1; PVR; nectin-2; lncRNAs; immune suppression; anti-tumor immunity; NK-cell cytotoxicity; cytokines; Th1; Th2; T regulatory response; inflammation; tumor microenvironment;

    Abstract : Serous epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is a potent suppressor of the immune defense. Here, we studied interactions between EOC and the immune system that lead to escape from tumor immune surveillance. READ MORE
