  1. 1. Generalized trust and the collective action dilemma of immunization

    Author : Björn Rönnerstrand; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2015]
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Collective action; immunization; pandemics; A H1N1 ; generalized trust; reciprocity; social capital; Sweden; United States;

    Abstract : Immunization is one of the most cost-efficient medical treatments available. But the potential for societies to secure the public health benefits generated by vaccinations can be reduced by the collective action dilemma of immunization. READ MORE

  2. 2. Novel immunization strategies and interethnic differences in response to malaria infection

    University dissertation from Stockholm : The Wenner-Gren Institute, Stockholm University

    Author : Charles Arama; Stockholms universitet.; [2012]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Malaria; Immunization; Ethnic groups; vaccines; Immunology; immunologi;

    Abstract : A better understanding of the role of antigen-presenting cells (APCs) in host resistance to malaria is essential to unravel the complex interactions between the host and the parasite. This would improve the design of malaria vaccines. READ MORE

  3. 3. Studies in DNA immunization

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Microbiology and Tumor Biology Center (MTC)

    Author : Cecilia Svanholm; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [1999]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chlamydia pneumoniae; DNA vaccine; GM-CSF; HIV-1; hsp60; Nef; Rev; Tat; signal sequence;

    Abstract : This thesis describes investigations and developments of DNA immunization techniques, which were applied in the study of two different pathogens; HIV-1 and Chlamydia pneumoniae. DNA vaccines, i.e. naked plasmid DNA encoding an antigen, represent a novel strategy for generating protective immunity against several infectious diseases. READ MORE

    Abstract : Immunotherapy is a new promising approach in cancer treatment. In the future, it will hopefully offer an alternative to existing brain tumors treatments, which are unable to cure. We have established an experimental, low immunogenic, brain tumor model in the rat. READ MORE

  5. 5. Aspects of cash-flow valuation

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Matematik

    Author : Fredrik Armerin; KTH.; [2004]

    Abstract : This thesis consists of five papers. In the first two papers we consider a general approach to cash flow valuation, focusing on dynamic properties of the value of a stream of cash flows. The third paper discusses immunization theory, where old results are shown to hold in general deterministic models, but often fail to be true in stochastic models. READ MORE
